OT - Various OT topics

An interesting bit of Prog Rock trivia is this: In a 1995 interview, Randy Bachman indicated that he thought that using the word "fragile" as a title for a rock album, as Yes had done with their 1971 album Fragile, was "strange." He thought that BTO music could be "dropped and kicked" without breaking, so, without intending any commentary about Yes, the band "tongue-in-cheek" called their next album Not Fragile.

Wow, you are really taking care of business with that explanation!

First 8 track I ever bought was Not Fragile . Purchase was made at a Listening Booth Store.

I never owned an 8 track but was pretty darn good at rewinding to the right spot an cassette tapes.

Guess the drawing of the planet on the cover of "Fragile" went right over Randy's head.

8 tracks were my fav in Nam I had an 8 track player I would put the speakers on both sides of my head and go to sleep while blasting my rock music!
Did you ever have to repeatedly jam and readjust a matchbook under the cassette to get the heads to line up?

Good times.

Thanks for the really great memory jog of having to listen to my Dad's country tapes as we sat 6 abreast/stacked two deep on the bench seat of my Dad's Ford pickup. 4x4 Ford high boy + 8-track in glove box made for an unreliable combo.

That has to be one of the most brilliant war sequences ever filmed. I’ve probably watched it several dozen times. And take a look at some of the actors in the scenes:
Martin Sheen
Larry Fishburn
R Lee Ermey
Robert Duvall

Robert Duvall is awesome. Two of the most iconic lines from films came from him in that scene. “Charlie don’t surf!” and “I love the smell of napalm in the morning.”

I have read all but 6 of his books. I have those 6 but am systematically going between Child, Baldacci, Grisham, Michael Connelly and Brad Thor.
You are a literary man above my level @Shifty15
I just can't focus on reading that much anymore.
Any good movie suggestions this old man might have missed?

Tyson knocks him out in the first 2 minutes.
When you think about how much a win here (for Paul) will increase the value of the Jake Paul empire, it's hard to see that happening. He's manipulated his career to this point so far and I would expect that to continue. With the dollars at stake and the combatants involved, it's really hard for me not to be cynical about this event.

That's why the contract states that Tyson doesn't get paid it he knocks him out in 1. It has to go to the second round for Tyson to ring up the register.

That is ridiculous and I'm surprised that Tyson would agree to those rules. A quick knock-out is clearly his best option. I mean, if he's really working hard and thinking, "I'll take it easy on him and knock him out early in the second period", how can he even be sure that he doesn't "accidentally" knock him out in the 1st? The fact is that Tyson's different than almost any other boxer and nobody on the planet hit harder than him when he was in his prime. Even at his advanced age, I'm guessing that it still feels like a sledge-hammer against your ribs or your head.

I don't think there are any stipulations about Paul's ear.
