My vote is Vincent's, on Ardmore Boulevard. Loaded and chewy and fantastic after six beers.

Whatever. How are his cheesesteaks?
I don't think you can say one place is the best or better than another. It's a matter of what is your favorite. Most of the time, whatever you grew up eating, is your favorite, and most people think that is the best. I grew up eating Vinnie pie every Friday night. To me, that is what pizza should be based on my experience. Vince has been gone since 2010. I still recall him smoking cigarettes (Kools) while making pies. No extra charge for the ashes in your pie. I was back in the area in May visiting family, and my wife and I went to Confortti's (formerly Vincent's) in Irwin on Route 30. We got a couple of pizzas to share with my dad. My dad and I had an anchovy and mushroom pizza. My vote is Vincent's, on Ardmore Boulevard. Loaded and chewy and fantastic after six beers.
IMO, the Lehigh Valley is loaded with great NY style pizza shops. Crossroads in Hellertown was fantastic, but I believe they closed. I also believe the Matey's are somehow affiliated, so the that recipe may still be around. Steve's Pizza in Palmer Township is also great, but they can be inconsistent. Colonial Pizza in downtown Easton is very good, but a little different with the sauce on top. It's one of those love it or hate it styles. They make a great white pizza as well. Out of all those, I like/liked Crossroads the best. Just good flavor, consistent.Mario's Pizza in Northampton, Pa. The pizza is consistent, it tastes like it did 20 years ago. Don't get me wrong I've had better specialty pizza's from other places but for a standard pizza, its the best.
The Topic is too broad... you can't compare a wood burning Neapolitan, to a pan baked "Old Forge" style, to a deck baked NY style pizza - all have their own crust types, heat methods etc...
Let's do this - since it is a very specific style to PA : Favorite Old Forge Style Pizza

"Pan baked Old Forge style" pizza means what? Deep dish pizza? Out here in the Bay Area, people refer to deep dish pizza either with those three words or the term "Chicago style."

Matucci's in Mt Carmel is great. Flaky crust, tasty sauce, and delicious toppings like shrimp. Always busy, plus us out of towners keep them hopping. My vote is Vincent's, on Ardmore Boulevard. Loaded and chewy and fantastic after six beers.
YEPAnything from Old Forge. I mean, it's the pizza capital of the world. No brainer.
You remember Cologne Pizza on the Strip back in that time frame? Great pizza and a meatball parm that could bring about world peace.I miss the old Capri Pizza near the movie theaters inside the Lycoming Mall. The guys that worked there were off the boat Sicilians. Loved going to the movies at "the Mall" back in the 1980s. Best pizza in the Williamsport area to go along with the best arcade in the area.
I would think any place in the immediate Philly area and that is based on sheer volume. I have about 6 pizza places within walking distance of my home. The most famous of which is Pica's but I am actually not a big fan. Where I live you can't swing the proverbial dead cat without hitting a bar - and drunk Irish people - or a pizza joint.
By sheer volume - that means Dominos, Pizza Hut and Pappa Johns are hands down better than anything - nope!

Late 70's - early 80's. I want to say they were in a retro-fitted house on the corner of 3rd St. and Russell Ave. - Almost west to Northway Blvd.Don't remember that one. When were they around?
Was wondering if it was still around, been a few decades... a Berwyn Pizza pizza steak is mana from heaven. Is the bar that had fantastic beef sammiches carved to order still around? Can't remember the name...I sure do enjoy the pizza and cheesesteaks from Berwyn Pizza (on Route 30 in Berwyn) every time I am back there. But I certainly would not claim to be an expert on this subject, or the subject of cheesesteaks. I really enjoy reading comments from members of this Board on that subject, and realize that I could easily spend several weeks back there sampling the various suggestions..
Should "cheesesteak" be one or two words? I'm thinking it is one word, but am not certain.
