MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (KDKA) — West Virginia University has postponed its Fan Day with the Mountaineer football team over an outbreak of hand, foot and mouth disease.

Fan Day was initially scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

The WVU Athletic Department says five cases of hand, foot and mouth disease have been identified within the school’s football program.

Because the disease is highly contagious, the Athletic Department says it is in “the best interest of the general public to postpone the event.”

The WVU medical staff is continuing to monitor the situation.

A new date for Fan Day has not been announced at this time.

In July, more than a dozen people were infected with hand, foot and mouth disease at a summer school program for Pittsburgh Public Schools in Mount Oliver.

At least 10 students and six staff members caught the disease. The building was disinfected and the district says it’s confident the building is now safe for students.

All these comments coming from people who tailgate in cowfields.wow

We all do that? My wife and I park in the Pugh Street garage, get breakfast at Irving’s (egg sandwiches and lattes), shop on College Avenue, then take the SBS bus to the stadium.

After the game, we walk back to College Avenue, do some more shopping, get dinner (e.g., The Tavern), and get ice cream at The Creamery.

Pitt also cancelled because Narduzzi has a part of his body in his mouth, but it's not his hand or foot.

Where was it that the PA announcer used to ask the visiting WVU fans to address a double parked tractor in the parking lot? Was that Spitt?

Yeah, I remember that. The Pitt announcer said that a tractor with West Virginia license plate ‘EIEIO’ was double-parked. Mountaineer fans got their revenge that winter during a basketball game by waving a banner that said ‘Dorsett goes pro, takes pay cut.’

this past year was awful for HFM. My kids got it at day care twice. A local elementary school closed a day for it, along with ringworm problems with wrestling, kids/adults need to practice better hygiene.

This was quite disturbing to read. Doesn't ringworm affect a person's digestive tract, and in particular, the lower portion of the tract? If so, the wrestling holds necessary to pass on the disease must be quite unique.

Ringworm is a fungal skin problem

Nope

Pizzaboy spends his time on the Lair sucking off the Yinzers. He has never posted on WVU's board and He's not a WVU fan.

I believe the old uva pep band was similarly scathing in their halftime show (and that is a contributing factor why there is no more uva pep band)

You are correct "Pizzaboy" has never posted on the Wvu boards.I had to change names because Peak kicked me off his board(3times).So I'm under my original name on the Wvu boards. You do realize how dumb you look saying something like "sucking off the yinzers"?

A vision of west virginia tailgating that is forever burned in my memory:

I was in the Blue Band and part of a pep band that went to morgantown for the game in 1989. It had rained the night before and perhaps a bit that Saturday morning. As we were driving to the stadium on game day, we saw a group of about 50 west virginia students on a grass field down a slight hill. A ring of students had formed and some students were moshing in the middle, in the mud. Most of them had beer in one hand. Many of the guys had no shirts on. It was quite a sight.
