Couple years ago OSU had this kid named Diebler. He beat us at the BJC, I forget the score but he went 10/11 from three. Never saw anything like it before or since. He missed his first shot and hit the next ten straight, ended up with thirty on TEN made threes. It was disgusting. How you let a guy go 10 for 11 without blasting the kid with some goon (we always had plenty of them) going out and bashing the kid I'll never know.

I'm sure Sunday will be different.

Rick Mahorn used to say, after he smashed somebody..."I got six fouls and they're all for you."

It will be interesting to see how our team plays against a quality opponent on the road. Coach Shrew knows his way around Columbus so he won't be intimidated. We've had some big upset wins there over the years...maybe #11 and #1 light it up today? It'll be a good prelude to the Eagles game. I'm hoping there is reason to keep channel surfing after 1pm

Plenty of upsets yesterday. Anything can happen

As an aside- yesterday afternoon was PSU transfer day on TV. Jones had 8 against South Carolina but didn't play during the last 5 minutes or so. His body language on time outs remains odd...he hovers around the outside of the huddle. He did give polite golf claps when teammates made free throws but I think it appeared he was pouting. He would've been the man here at crunch time.

I also caught Fordham vs SLU and didn't realize that our top assistant brought 3 PSU players to Rose Hill with him. Only Tsimbia played significant minutes. He still is an amazing physical presence, but even at the A 10 level it was obvious that his learning curve is too big. Pat Kelly got garbage time. DJ Gordon is on the roster and has only played once early in the year.

Didn't catch any Iowa State vs Texas for Brock or the Gonzaga game for Bolton. One can't help but wonder where that collection of players would have us now. While I supported Pat, he also had a tendency to get overwhelmed in critical moments. Water under the bridge...based on the sample size I think we have a much better coach and will have to go through some growing pains while the roster transitions.

DJ Gordon entered the portal like a month ago, I believe

If brock stayed and everyone else remained the same I think this team would be a tournament team.
As poorly as they played at UMass I'm not saying that he makes that big of a difference but you never know. I also think having him would have led to wins over Miami and LSU. Even if you only had one of those he would help enough to get them to 500 in conference play I think

I missed the first half doing some storm prep and grilling. At critical stages of 2nd half with about 6 mins left and a chance to cut lead to 2 or 3 we had an open 3pt shot by White, followed by a missed contested 3 by Lee, followed by a brick that didn't hit the rim from Pickett. Then late tough turnover by Sam dribbling in a crowd without a clear plan. Great team effort without Lundy and solid coaching to keep us in the game. OSU missed 11 free throws and didn't hit 3s...we had a punchers shot

Each one of those examples you listed as an open shot or even the contested shot of Pickett are where this team could use brockington. That guy could get to the basket better than anybody they have on the roster and would probably be attempting 10 free throws the game.

Sessoms and Pickett do okay but neither of them or lundy has the first step that Brockington did. When you go into these shooting and scoring lulls you need a guy who can create and get to the basket or the free throw line.

I didn’t get to watch the second half but our guys were stone cold for a few minutes in the first half, shooting 1/13 for one stretch after they had built a small lead.

Seeing that they only lost by five feels like another “could have been” but the upside is they were competitive. I hope they can find some more consistent scoring that helps lead to a few more wins in this kind of scenario.

White is the last guy you want shooting 3s.

Johnson & Dread had wide open looks but they weren't even close today. A poor shooting percentage is usually due to good defense or poor shot selection. Today they had easy wide open shots and missed.

Did Cornwall play?

He has not played the last couple games. Do nt think its injury either, he just is not producing.

my guess is also an attitude issue otherwise probably would have seen him today

exactly. he hit one vs Purdue...but we don't want that to be our "best shot." Kid hustled today. Lee made a big 3 vs Boilers too. Not so in clutch today
