Basketball PENN STATE VS INDIANA PREVIEW & GAMETHREAD - 3:30 p.m EST - CBS

I get that, but why didn’t they review the 3 point shot Indiana made with a minute left. I just rewatched it and I couldn’t tell from the TV angle due to a player being in the way, but his left foot was really close to the line. If we’re going to go review crazy, then review everything.
"go review crazy"...they reviewed two wrong calls and corrected them. You're criticizing their use of replay on those two plays?

We didn't get a good angle on the 3 (from replaying it, I believe he was behind the line, but Dread is blocking the view as he loads up, so can't say 100% for sure)...but no one at all reacted to it (if he was on the line and PSU asked for a review, I'm sure we would have received it, especially with the clock being stopped). I'd be willing bet that he was behind the line.

if we beat purdue and have won 9 of our last 10 going in? that would have a huge impact
Our game ends too late for it to matter...the bracket will be locked and loaded by that point, and they won't make a contingency bracket simply for our win. Year after year, we see those late Sunday games have no impact on the bracket unless it involves a bid being stolen.

Best 10 seed in history….likely stay a 10 seed, but it’s all objective (eye roll).
Combo of terrible management of the press and IU started making everything as PSU decided not to play D. Once it was 13 PSU just let them score on a couple possessions and just let up too early. IU suddenly got momentum and it spiraled from there.
No reason to play D when you have a 13 pt lead with 2 minutes to play. Just don't foul and stop the clock. But you have to be able to inbound the ball.

our game ends late but if beating one of their 1 or 2 seeds doesn't improve your standing then nothing does

Beating them won't mean anything...just as getting destroyed won't mean anything. The committee will have their bracket ready to go well before our game is finishing at 5:30-5:40 tomorrow afternoon. It's part of the deal with the Big Ten title game when we decide to play it so that it's ending as the Selection Show is getting ready to begin.

I could see us going from 9 to 8 with a win given that it is a simple bracket switch

Even that isn't an easy swap, because it's modifying everything on the s-curve, and then re-bracketing the 8/9s...unless it was something like we're talking 32 vs 33 on the s-curve.

But we’ll never know because they didn’t. If they’re really trying to make sure they get crucial calls correct, they should have at least reviewed it. That’s my point.

Why, simply because you didn't get a good angle on TV with Dread blocking it? DJ had a good angle on it, and he may have been a few inches behind the line, but we'll never know. PSU players/coaches made no indications that it might have been a bad call or needed to be reviewed.

I wasn’t at the game so I don’t know what the coaches did or didn’t do. It just seemed close enough to earn a review. I’ve seen them review there’s pointers minutes later when no one even thought about it.

Seems to me we should be ahead of Rutgers, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, and Michigan State. None of those teams has 22 wins or 8 quad 1 wins.

Erial will say I'm wrong and he might be right. But that's how I see it.

i think we are going to end up with a higher seed than the bracket people are projecting

they are going to take account of this trend we are on, beating almost anyone we play

You can't just let them score with very little time used up then run no offense with 2 minutes left. With the 3 ball which they hit, 13 turns to 5 or 6 with a couple missed FTs. Combine that with not being able to handle the press and there you have it.

It's starting to get really hard to separate all of the Big Ten teams...We'll certainly be ahead of Rutgers, and behind Michigan State...likely behind Maryland. But we're right there in the mix now with Iowa and Illinois.

I wouldn't be shocked if we see a Big Ten team in all four 8/9 games...although it adds some complexities around pairing one of them in the same region with Purdue (if they do edge out UCLA for the 4th #1 seed).

Seems like it would be easy to swap BiG teams.

PSU 22-12 with 8 quad 1 wins

Rutgers 19-14
Maryland 21-12
Iowa 19-13
Mich State 19-12
Illinois 20-12 (3-0 head to head)

i don't think they should have funk inbound if the other team is pressing

Disagree. Apply enough token pressure so it takes 15+ seconds to score but under no circumstances can you foul and let them score with no time off the clock.

He’s not saying to foul, he is saying they just completely played Ole defense and let the guys dribble right to the basket.

Exactly Bison. Also you can't turn the ball over 4 times in the last 1:45.

Forget the trend. 22 wins including 8 quad 1. Purdue is the only BiG team with more.

Not that it will make a huge difference, but it will be 7 when they rerun the numbers (since Memphis will pass Maryland and push the home game against them into Q2).

And luckily we let Indiana make it close at the end, or the home win over them could have dropped to Q2...smart coaching by Micah. ;)

These tourney wins are great but they just are not valued like reg season wins. I think tomorrow's game means basically nothing in terms of seeding. I think we have hit our ceiling as an 8 seed.

Yeah, he almost decided to just let IU win to ensure our home win over them stays Q1.

13 pt lead with 2 minutes to play and Indy closes it to 1 pt with 30 seconds to play. Only 8 TOs but 4 came in that minute and a half.

It sure helps to make FTs. 23-26 is phenomenal but the misses came at a bad time for my heart.
Glad you survived.

The committee is going to have issues with getting all the Big Ten teams into the right place though, since so many us are in the 8/9 range, and you've got Purdue as the potential 1 that limits who they can play in the second round. So, we could even land in the 29-32 range in the S-curve but be bumped up to a 7 seed.
