Kind of funny to hear OSU coaches telling Mendez to just shut it down and not get taken down in a situation where a feet to back ties the match. Quite the endorsement of the kid you want to be a multi time champion.

He got TDs at the end of each of the first two periods. Mendez was good at escaping. 2 more seconds and he gets the TD. I wouldn’t call the strategy terrible
I guess winning is an awful strategy.
Too bad the headlock didn’t work. A dominant 8-2 match. Just couldn’t get the last TD. Tried to. Maybe waited a little too long.
I was impressed. Mendez wrestles for Ohio State, yet looked to be in shape.
He made 3 commited efforts and converted them all. He could have made 7-8 commited efforts. And he’s have converted them all
No reason that shouldn’t have been a major. He’s been doing it all season and it just doesn’t make sense to me. He can take every guy down at will yet chooses not to at times

The late second period TD made sense. 2 without the 1. Agree with others that a little more attack and a little sooner prob would have gotten major in 3rd. But it’s not like he didn’t take several attempts either.
Nobody, and I mean nobody, takes more pride in limiting bonus against Penn State than Tom Ryan

Man Sasso is infuriating. Don’t think Van Ness did much wrong there, just a unique scrambler.
Aghhhh, frustrating third but I still maintain the process is very good there. It’s not gonna be this year but Van Ness has the makings of a monster.

Sasso was working on top the entire third for something and you can tell it threw Shayne off his game. He became more concerned about not getting turned than getting out by the middle of it. Another match to learn from.
