Wrestling Penn State vs. Ohio State Dual Thread (2/3/23)

He actually moved his shoulder so he would be pinned…probably the lesser of two evils.
Yep. That was what happened. He was trying to get pinned. He put a lot of money down for a bet and he threw the match.

probably because it’s illegal at every other level
Because high school refs don’t know when to stop it and high school kids usually can’t execute it? Yes, it is a painful and *potentially* dangerous move. Yet for all the complaints about Max using it the last two years there are zero examples of it causing an injury that cost anyone future matches.

I almost wish Dean wouldn’t have won by fall. The dual might have gone past 9:00 and caused coverage of Iowa vs Minnesota to start after their dual began.
I think this will be the perfect dual to fall asleep to. Lots of hand fighting and push outs to lull me right out in the La-Z-Boy.

Can show you hundreds of dislocated shoulders and torn ligaments from a bar gone wrong. Can’t remember a single instance of someone suffering a disc rupture or vertebrae fracture from a bow and arrow. It gets stopped when it needs to. Beyond that it’s just flexibility and pain tolerance.
Ya but you're forgetting that Penn State is known for the bow and Iowa (well one person) is known for bars, so..trolling must commence.

i don’t recall spencer hurting anybody with his bar either? i assume you’re pissed at the stoppages last week?

No? I mean does Spencer really get stopped that often? Genuinely asking. I feel like more often than not he gets it, runs it, match over. The kid hasn’t lost in years, what’s there to be upset about?

He should have been hit with a stall, but when the other kid has spent 4 or 5 seconds moving forward in the first 6 minutes and 45 seconds it probably is difficult to put that fist in the air.

When ever the ref gets theatrical, you know the calls will be sketchy.

I felt embarrassed for OSU's heavyweight. No one wants to see those matches. The result was known when the lineups were made. I would have liked to see Kerk play catch and release from the opening whistle.

Only thing that needs done now is Vespa needs to be the 125 pounder. Otherwise...we're good to go.

He made 3 commited efforts and converted them all. He could have made 7-8 commited efforts. And he’s have converted them all

No reason that shouldn’t have been a major. He’s been doing it all season and it just doesn’t make sense to me. He can take every guy down at will yet chooses not to at times
like I said before RBY only wrestles when he wants to he could have crushed ragasin but chose to ride!!

And yet it’s legal at the college level and we aren’t seeing injuries. Illegal bars do destroy shoulders. Are refs overly cautious from that position? Probably so but saying that the bow and arrow should be outlawed because it’s painful is just silly. It physically hurts but sure as hell doesn’t injure at least at this level where it’s legal.

Ohio State definitely scouted the ankle ride and most of their guys countered it by going to a sit out. It worked in a number of situations. If I were them I would’ve waited until nationals or Big 10’s to pull it out because I’m pretty sure Cael and company will come up with a similar counter

Can't believe we trounced Ohio State and these Iowa chuckleheads have us talking about them again instead of making fun of Tom Ryan's miked up whining
Understood, but I think most of us still have BTN on

We can do both. I personally loved when they did a cut shot to him in the Kerk match calling for stalling on top because Kerk couldn't do anything from the side wrist control position.
