I agree. WVU runners are often like 5 yards down field before they even get touched. If that isn’t fixed, Ohio St and Michigan will torch this defense.

Lavar ran and whiffed a lot at this stage in his career. It drove Joe crazy.

That said this is a different defensive scheme. Joe had LBs staying in position and plugging holes. This defense is about moving LBs around and trying to make explosive plays.

Lavar didn’t have good fundamentals. He was ann athletic freak though. I seem to recall some coaches calling him the best player on the team but the worst lb.

Well that's a bit of a gross exaggeration as WVU has a total of 95 yards rushing on 29 rushing attempts - a 3.3 yard average. 3.3 ypc is not impressive at all.
