Football Penn State vs. West Virginia - GAMEDAY THREAD

Poor RT, embarrassing special teams and an average DT room...if this team makes the playoff, JF should be coach of the decade.

Bad play calls??? That last series was on Drew (his worst series of the game). Ball should have been intercepted on 1st Down. 2nd Down sack was completely on Drew - had a ton of time to throw it.....

Singleton is not stoppable by WVU. Anything other than giving him the ball there is a bad play call.

Bring that Giant Girthanthiclops thst kicked off into kick field goals

Get this kicker the hell out of there. These guys are all paid players now so no sympathy, get him out of there and give someone else a shot

FG kicking is going to be a problem.

Allar looks great. WRs look great. Line with some misses. Kudos to WVU. Scrapping hard.

Our defense is still who it was last year. Probably survive tonight, but they are far from dominant.

Special teams are horrible, going to be an issue all season long. Will bite them a couple games, including this one.

Really weird half for PSU. Overall, a pretty good first half. Allar was 13-for-18 for 214 and 1 TD. Harrison Wallace with 4 receptions for 50 yards, KLS with 3 for 111 and 1 TD. 7 different Nittany Lions have already recorded receptions. Curtis Jacobs has 8 tackles, including 1 sack. Kobe King with 5 tackles.

Half time adjustments then come out strong the 2nd half. They only need a W. The only thing that matters. Not like this is an FCS team.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Alex Felkins will be seeing some time in the second half.
Agree. It seems Sander is overwhelmed by the pressure. Some kickers can handle it others cannot. The offense needs to come out and score TD to start the 2nd half. They can't allow WVU to hang around into the 4h Qtr because WVU can run the ball. WVU needs to be put in a position to have to pass more.

SIDEBAR: Abdul Carter might be too heavy. Not moving as quickly and fluidly as last year

How many points and yards should our D have given up? Keep in mind there was a long broken play that was definitely a fault.

Right now the WV QB has 67 yards and was sacked 2x.

Their RB's have combined for 71 yards (split 30/30/10ish).

37 of the QB's passing yards came on one play. So he has 30 yards passing otherwise.

How much better should our D be?

A three and out occasionally would be helpful.

Looks like this team may have received too much publicity too early this year. D line is very soft in the middle. Linebackers haven’t been too much of a factor either. O line has trouble at times. FG kicking has been a complete mess.

Granted, it’s only 1 half, and there’s plenty of time to go. We’ll see what adjustments are made.

On the plus side, Allar has been impressive. Only 1 really bad throw so far that luckily didn’t hurt them. He’s been pretty poised and very accurate especially on the run.

Turnovers are going to be huge in this game. PSU has already given away 6 points. Don’t want to see this game come down to a final drive- too early in the season to raise the blood pressure! ;)

NBC coverage has been horrible........poor camera angles (the field looks so far away)....lousy score/down/timing graphic......and that lead announcer is pathetic! Can barely understand what he is saying. Blackledge is good as always....otherwise this broadcast totally sucks!

PSU with some utterly horrendous Offensive Efficiency in first half - PSU only scored 7 points on 277 yards of Total Offense (i.e., needed ~40 yards of offense per point scored - just dreadful, a good number is single digit or low teens.... 20 yards per point is not good - PSU was double that).

Defensive Efficiency was decent, not awesome, giving up 7 points on 136 yards of Total Offense by WVU (~19 yards per point).

This team looks totally overrated....except Allar. I think we will be fine in the second half, but 1st half was not impressive, especially on D. FG kicker is a disgrace!

Just as a reminder, 10-3 OSU over Indiana at the half.
