Gibson 5-1 over Steen. NF2 in the 2nd, and a last-sec T2 to end the match.
They'll very likely face again next week in the state finals. Steen will have to beat NDGP's Brett Ungar in the semis -- last year he beat Ungar a couple time, each one very close.
Steen still has to be seen our 125. Robbie Howard can't/won't hold 125 forever. He has to eventually bump up to replace RBY, right?
Also, Mason Gibson is special but as a Freshman, he's expected to grow yes? He's not likely a career 125 if he's already 120 in 9th grade. Then again, I know nothing about his family. Maybe they're all short like Spencer Lee's family. At any rate, PSU has to get him when his time rolls around.
A little more horsepower from weight training should help HowardDisagree on Howard. Right now he looks like a small 125. He is young so may grow to 133 and then again he may not.
well Teske was giving it a go two years ago... had a bright spot (one match) at the scuffleA little more horsepower from weight training should help Howard
Just my guess, but I'd say either Howard or Steen goes 125 next season and the other redshirts
At least we now have a legit wrestler at that weight; it's been a while.
Teske just won Big 12s, so he might have developed into a solid option for PSU had he stayed around.well Teske was giving it a go two years ago... had a bright spot (one match) at the scuffle
Brackets are out. Same link as OP.@El-Jefe or others,
I assume the Super-Regional results make the seeding for States pretty straight-forward?
1 East vs 4 West
2 East vs 3 West
3 East vs 2 West
4 East vs 1 West
Just spitballing, but I suspect that due to COVID concerns they wanted to cut down on the number of people in the arena. Not sure it’s a permanent change, may just be a one time thing.Could someone explain for the ignorant folks like me, what is the purpose for the Super Regionals? What was broken with the old Sectional, District, Regional, State format?
Weird......Something seems hinky there....
I asked this last week. Due to covid it limits the amount of kids at states. Not sure if it will hang around. They still have sectionals districts and regionals they just added this between regionals and states. Makes sense. Wrestling there is ridiculous. Everyone is above parCould someone explain for the ignorant folks like me, what is the purpose for the Super Regionals? What was broken with the old Sectional, District, Regional, State format?
I counted about 4 headbutts or so before the one from bottom. Then the uppercut you could partially see. Ugly stuff - looks bloated and terribleThe match is on FLO. His opponents nose was bleeding a LOT. Carson was called for "throwing" his head back while trying to get off bottom. 2nd Penalty point. This was after Carson had already been called for pulling the headgear.....headgear never moved that I could see. Carson was clearly agitated. More blood time. After another blood time Carson was called for a flagrant forearm to the face/head area. His opponents back was blocking the camera ...couldn't see if it connected but it looked bad. DQ
Yeah that was pretty flagrant. Seems like a perfect fit for Iowa or the NJ Fight ClubI counted about 4 headbutts or so before the one from bottom. Then the uppercut you could partially see. Ugly stuff - looks bloated and terrible
I'd say he's about ready to wrestle-off with Nelson Brands. Kid could be a true freshman starter.Yeah that was pretty flagrant. Seems like a perfect fit for Iowa or the NJ Fight Club

That was pretty bad.
Should be noted about the apparent head butts on feet -- the Manvilles wrestle head-first and straight-on. It's why Mason is known as the Halo Kid -- from having his head wrapped in virtually every HS match.
Because of this, it's surprising that more of their matches don't get chippy.
Gotta hand it to the opponent (Brooks Gable from Dallastown) for keeping his cool throughout.
Yep, true enough Brooks Gable is a 2x state qualifier, and his brother Clay was 171 AAA state champ in 2009.Gable has some pedigree. His dad is one heck of a coach, and I believe his brother won a state title a few years back.
The second takedown only happened because Steen was in late match desperation mode.Gibson 5-1 over Steen. NF2 in the 2nd, and a last-sec T2 to end the match.

The next year, Evans was #1 nationally at 189 while at Blair.
the only TD... Steen probably had an NCAA TD on the edge with his first inside trip...The second takedown only happened because Steen was in late match desperation mode.
Mason Gibson could be like the beginning of a waterfall.Hope we can get Mason Gibson. Might be an uphill battle, I don't think his club coach likes us that much.

He trains several days a week at M2 as well.
Just hope the pipeline isn't already open with Erik going to Cornell.
Their dad played for Joe.Rucci brother moment except their dad didn't wrestle for us?
Haha I was just kidding! I'm not very funny.
I know DT is his club coach.
True -- and PSU recruited Erik.Eric is a great wrestler, he had options. Mason can go to ANY school in the country.
Brother Eric is middleweight and a whole head taller. I suspect babyface Mason will sprout up too. Highly unlikely he’s a college 125/133.Steen still has to be seen our 125. Robbie Howard can't/won't hold 125 forever. He has to eventually bump up to replace RBY, right?

I figured you were referring to The Compound. He is there a couple days a week as well. They have some crazy stuff going on there. We went to an open gym type thing there for a weekend and literally half the youth/MS studs in the country were there to get some good competition.
FULL COURT PRESS !!!!Obviously I don't know him personally but I'd be shocked if Bill Bassett had anything against PSU.
Well going by his brother I would say you're probably right.I think mason projects to 149. It's hard to judge by the size of his parents bc he is adopted.
