About 200? Everyone was trout fishing, at the Benedem, Science Center, Heinz Museum, and at local clubs and bars.
Also interesting, according to post on the Lair they had DiNucci running with a team of mostly starters, not Browne. Seems a little odd if Browne is going to be the starter. Maybe they are seeing that he isn't very good.

Browne apparently really struggled. Went 3 and out on the first three drives. He finally put some points on the board the final drive of the game to finish 13-28, 144 yards, and a TD, but he was also 8-20 until the last series of the game.
Sounds like they left him in there to get some participation points so it wasn't a total $hit$how of an afternoon.
I understand it's fun to make jokes about Pitt but I'll never understand the reason so many attend spring games. I'm glad we have that kind of devotion from the fan base and that many people just go for the experience but it's a scrimmage. I don't see the big deal of attendance for it...though that crowd borderline ridiculous. Really not even worth paying people to work it
is this a legit shot of their spring game? If so, how embarrassing for them especially with their recruiting targets attending. The fans, though, do outnumber the recruits. Great fan appeal.
That's almost as many as show up for their games! That's one of Pitt's more impressive crowds. Announced as 40,000 no doubt.
It's hard to compete against that U14 girls softball tournament in Moon Township today.
I can think of a few reasons people like to attend spring games at least as it pertains to Penn State...
- If the weather is good, it's a great excuse to make the first road trip of the spring.
- For alums it's a great reason to head back to campus for a nostalgic visit. Creamery. Downtown. Beaver Stadium.
- For donors and other hardcore fans it's a fun way to check out the team. Sure, it's not a real game but they can get their fix of seeing the blue and white on the field.
- Form my undergrad days I can still recall the feeling of a nice spring day in State College. Some come back for that.
- The spring game is a tool the university uses to keep connected with alums/donors. $$$ is important.
My God, have you seen the list of just 11 recruits at the Pitt spring game? 4star Raines, 3star Zubovic, two 3stars we're not recruiting, and seven, yes 7, unrated, no star recruits. That's the best The Duzz can get to attend? Worse than pathetic! I hope Raines and Zubovic are impressed!
Don't know if he would want recruits there to see the empty stadium. Probably better for him that only a few had to see this lack of support for Pitt players. Not the best recruiting event for them.
Rumor has it they handed out diapers to those entering the stadium. It was cheaper than opening up any of the rest rooms.
And they just passed the three boxes of popcorn around in case anyone wanted some.
Surprised they did not hand out one of those stupid tags with the score from last year. That will keep them focused for the next 50 years or so.

People not having an interest in Pitt football is almost as revered a tradition as Pitt being terrible sine 1981.
Oh it's real...10 minutes before kickoff. Burghguy68 took to twitter to show everyone 400 more people showed up at kick to total 758 people for Pitt's spring game....
The concussions were all shut down ... they bought two boxes of pizza and a large coke bottle for attendees.
And yet the beat us. What is our point here? That teams that really don't put much effort into their football program are better than us?
If Browne has been that bad in practice perhaps they don't even want to invest the year in a guy who is going to be 1 and done anyway. They are better off giving a younger guy the starting experience in 2017.

The quality of trolls has really gone down hill. They don't even wait until their second post before they start trolling nowadays. What a let down to trolls like LionRevival who at least put his time in to try and establish himself as a PSU fan before the troll in him really came out.
