Pitt had a "Yellow Out" for their Spring Game

CaptainSidneyReillyChancellor

QH is a consensus All American
NOPE, Barkley was the sole Penn State Consensus All American just named but not on First or Second Teams, with Pitt's Dorian Johnson and Ejuan Price on Teams.

However, Pitt's Henderson was an "UNANIMOUS CONSENSUS ALL AMERICAN" on the First Team and that is far Bigger and Rare Honor! WVU had 2 Consensus All Americans too. But only Pitt had an Unanimous Consensus All American and leads both Programs with more than them.

I know you love PITT and want to make sure everyone knows that PITT is in the Top Ten with UNANIMOUS CONSENSUS ALL AMERICANS than PSU & WVU and what Henderson earned surpass Barkley as well as Johnson and Price being named to Teams, unlike Barkley.

Henderson was also just a Sophomore and 3 Star Recruit and actually out gained Barkley in All Purpose Yards! Like DC posted he is better! I was being kind not mentioning it!
Maybe I'm not as big of a college football fan as i thought... Who the F is Henderson???

And they use "all purpose yards" which is Pitt speak for kick return yards and little else.

Exactly. Also, it is important to note that ALL of Henderson's All American mentions were as a kick returner, NOT as a running back. Barkley is an All American running back, so no, Henderson is not better.

And to be completely honest, if our defense was as bad as Pitt's (remember their Syracuse game?) and Barkley was returning as many kickoffs as Henderson, then yes, Barkley would be a much better kick returner too.

Henderson had roughly 1160 yards on punt and kick returns. I think around 600 rushing and 280 in receptions. So under 900 yards from scrimmage. Compare that with Barkley's more than 1800 yards from scrimmage. There is some strong weed being smoked by the Captain and his crew.

I thought you guys were joking but I went over there and they weren't debating whether Quadree was better, they actually believe it. They think he's a Heisman candidate. We will have to cover kicks well. They will have to try and tackle 26 all day. I think they have the bigger problem.

How on earth did we let that program beat us in football and basketball. We better beat the crap out of them in the Fall. Losing to a program that can't get anyone to come to their spring game is embarrassing. Losing to a program that has no basketball roster is embarrassing. 200 people at spring game is a joke.

Final records? Championship count? You know, the important sh!t for a season. Do you think real PSU fans would trade results for the season?

Why even bother with this guy? Ignore him like he's an infant. Just some friendly advice.

I like how he insists its Michigan and OSU as "the Big Two" in the Big Ten when Michigan hasn't won the B1g title in 14 years, while we've won 3 in that span.

Extensive breakdown as well on Panther Liar about Pitt having better WRs. Funny stuff. Also, not much excitement or savior posts on Brown after Saturday's game.

That idiot has been exposed and made a fool of repeatedly, bringing that asshole here wouldn't change the pattern of kicking his ass.

This is why Pitt is the gift that keeps on giving. Soon they will be talking about how their QB is better, and then how Pat will coach up their defense to make them the best in the nation. Soon they will all be convinced that Pitt is going to win the national title. When the house of delusions comes crashing down, and it always does, it's that much more fun to watch. I have a feeling that it's going to happen earlier this year, let's say 9/16.

I've seen posters on other boards saying the same thing...they forget that PSU, MSU and Wiscy have all won multiple championships since 2004 and Michigan had won 0. Michigan is completely overhyped.

If he was that good, considering their lack of talent elsewhere, couldn't PSU just kick it out of bounds every time? [rhetorical question]
If Joe J is healthy, and depending on weather conditions, most kicks will go deep or thru the endzone. Punts may be more of a problem and then you kick to a sideline etc. If things go well, we won't be punting much.

Gilliken may never see the field against Pitt.

I hope Joey is kicking through the endzone but I worry about the line drive that doesn't get through the endzone. I think Gilliken has the ability to be an outstanding punter. With good hang time, Quadree will be making fair catches or getting clobbered. I'm certainly okay with seeing plenty of kickoffs though and rare punts. I just hope we use Gilliken to pin teams deep rather than going for it on 4th down every time we approach midfield.

I can think of a few reasons people like to attend spring games at least as it pertains to Penn State...
  • If the weather is good, it's a great excuse to make the first road trip of the spring.
  • For alums it's a great reason to head back to campus for a nostalgic visit. Creamery. Downtown. Beaver Stadium.
  • For donors and other hardcore fans it's a fun way to check out the team. Sure, it's not a real game but they can get their fix of seeing the blue and white on the field.
  • Form my undergrad days I can still recall the feeling of a nice spring day in State College. Some come back for that.
  • The spring game is a tool the university uses to keep connected with alums/donors. $$$ is important.
I'm sure the reasons are similar for others schools which have a large spring game turn out. As for Pitt, who the hell knows what's up with them?

Football aside, the spring game comes with much of the atmosphere and other aspects of attending a college football game - tailgating, fun, and an opportunity to get together with family/friends. As an added bonus for those with kids, the game is free, not as crowded. and usually provides some different opportunities not available in the fall (ie autographs or other activities).

Unfortunately for schools like Pitt that play in a city in a Pro stadium across town, the game-day atmosphere is not very good so there is little incentive to attend a spring game. IMHO this is a significant reason Pitt will continue to struggle. They don't provide a compelling atmosphere to come out to a game, let alone try to sell your opera tickets. Lack of game-day experience = lack of fan base = tough time recruiting = mediocre football team = lack of fan base = tough time recruiting.........
Until Pitt builds a stadium on campus and provides students/fans a compelling experience, the program will be summed up with one word - Meh.

Half the people that were there just showed up to see what good seats in Heinz Field are like without having to pay the $6 on stub hub for Pitt seats at the 50 yard line. And I'm not joking about that.

Methinks we will be ready for the jet sweep this time.

Easiest way to take a kick returner out of the game? Don't kick it to him.

Well he got plenty of practice returning in the Syracuse game. Probably had to take an IV at halftime with the amount of points Syracuse put up on their genius defensive head coach guru. He probably had 600 return yards in the Syracuse game alone

Yet they wonder why their alums aren't passionate and don't go to games despite ridiculously cheap season tickets (less than the ticket cost of one big game for most schools) and over 2.5 million people within an hour drive in a region known for its love of football.

How much nostalgia do Pitt alums have going to Heinz Field? Little to none.

The sideline reporter was interviewing Tyler Boyd and she started to ask him what's it like to come back to Pitt and she caught herself and said come back to Heinz Field because coming back to Heinz Field isn't coming back to Pitt, it's a visit to the North Shore. He then said he's been to Heinz Field as a Cincinnati Bengal or something to that effect.

What really stood out to me on that video was the jaw dropping speed their entire team displayed while running on to the field. That's not just Alabama type speed, that's NFL level speed. If I had to judge just based on that clip alone, I would say Coach Narduzzi has assembled the greatest team in the history of CFB.
