Games not over yet but close enough. I'll admit I was worried about this game, especially after how MD played OSU last week. Obviously, nothing to worry about, as @sg out west said. Very impressed with play calling on D and O today, how nice is that to say?
This was the most complete game that I saw (I did miss most of the first half) since Pitt. Yes it was against Maryland, but a complete game is nice now and then, isn't it? Kudos to Rahne and especially Pry. Imagine committing to the run worked out well this week? And major props to Spencer. MD had nowhere to go today on the ground after McFarland gashed OSU for nearly 300 yards last week. Very impressive.
Trace is a baller. We knew that, we also know he's injured, but we still rag on his passing. He missed a few today, but I'd like to highlight two plays. Pigrome gingerly steps out of bounds 5 yards short of the first on 3rd down. Punt. Next series, up 21-3, Trace puts his head down and runs for 16 on 3rd and 15. Dude just won't give up ever and deserves so much respect for that.
Gross-Matos is going to be an absolute beast. He reads the play well and is just so strong and athletic. On one play he dragged the MD player down by his shirt from behind like it was nothing. Real excited to watch him for two more years.
Glad to see Johnson get some good reps. I thought he'd go pro after this season but I'm not sure now. He's been hurt but obviously has talent. It'll be interesting to see what he and Sanders do. Either way, I'm confident with the backups. I really like George as a slightly taller Hamilton type. A solid possession receiver who can make the occasional move to get more yards. Slade showed some good stuff today, nice cuts and jukes. Looks to have good vision. Shorter is an exciting player. And Dotson, who a lot of us wrote off after he committed to UCLA, has shown some good stuff so far this year.
Honestly, just so happy for the seniors to go out like this. Wish I could've been there. 9-3 is about where this team should be all things considered. Really should've beaten at least one of OSU/MSU, but it didn't happen. Oh well. What's done is done. On to the bowl game with time for everyone to heal up and be 100%.
That's all I got. Time for casinos and clubs and god knows what. Hope I'm here in a few days to talk PSU football with you all. Time will tell. Cheers.
