Don't expect it to be a resume builder. Georgetown is not a good team.If we hold on, this will probably go down as a Quad 2 win at year's end, since it is on the road. That's a resume builder.
They’re likely a middle of the pack Big East team/NITish/top 50-75 or so. Aren’t nearly as bad as some here seem to think.Don't expect it to be a resume builder. Georgetown is not a good team.
Seeing Ewing on sidelines reminds me of high school. We played against him in 1981 Massachusetts D1 State final. Had game tied at the half then early in third quarter our student section started pointing at him chanting "you can't read, you can't read". He then went on to completely destroyed us and win by 15. He must have weighted about 165 pounds back then.
a P5+1 school on the road typically will at least make it onto the resume. Being on the road is what'll make it Quad 2. At home it wouldn't be.Don't expect it to be a resume builder. Georgetown is not a good team.
Jones is lighting it up. Have to get Stevens involved. They’ve jumped out to early leads before and didn’t maintain it.
May not be our strength but we are definitely guard oriented. We start three guards and the first two guys off the bench are guards.....textbook example of guard oriented. We have one of the better front courts in the B10 this season... guard play really isnt our strength
8 years of mediocrity will do that.Sweet jeebus. All you do is complain. We're up double digits and all you do is second guess the game plan. You'll never be happy. Chambers gets paid a lot more than you to coach. Guess that means you shouldn't criticize the basketball team.
FWIW, Georgetown got 4 votes in the AP poll this week.
8 years of mediocrity will do that.
There’s quite a bit of a difference, but you know that. If Chambers had made the tournament for the past five years in a row, I would be as supportive of Chambers as I am of Franklin. I judge coaches on overall results and Chambers hasn’t made the tournament in 8 years...if he made it once or twice I would be far more positive about him. I don’t have unreasonable expectations of any PSU sport (like you and others do about PSU football), but how do you support a basketball coach who has had worse results than the last two coaches that were run out of town? There you go again..dictating the standards of what can and can't be said.
You aren't satisfied with the BB team's performance, but no one is allowed to be less than satisfied with the FB team's performance against similarly talented teams over. Do I have that right?
Those are the kinds of wins they need if they want any shot at making the tournament.Good to win on the road. We will have to wait until later in season to determine the quality of the W. No matter what, still better than a L.
You ask, how do we support Chambers? It's easy. You see slow but steady progress every year. You see teams that play hard every night. Even when the cupboard was empty and there wasn't much talent, those teams played super hard. You see the quality of the recruiting improve. You see the quality of the teams depth improve. To me, that's a big one. You see a coach that seems to be doing it the right way and pours his heart and soul into the program. He's very easy to support. Hopefully PSU has an injury free season and makes the tournament. No matter what I will support them. There’s quite a bit of a difference, but you know that. Amen!!!Jump out to a big lead early: "yeah but they'll blow it, I've seen this movie before." Hold off Georgetown's run and win by 15: "yeah but Georgetown stinks."
This was a game on the road, against a program with tradition that is among the "others receiving votes" in the polls, putting them ~38th in the country, we never trail for 1 second, Georgetown is never closer than 5 after we go up 5-0, we win by double digits, and the thread is loaded with bitching. Thread is pathetic.
You see all that yet the results are worse....sorry, I’m a big picture guy and if the so called improvements don’t yield results, then they’re not really improvements. Chambers isn't trying to build a program that makes the tournament once every five or ten years. He's trying to build something that will be competitive every year. I think that's a slow and difficult task and I think he's on the right track. You see all that yet the results are worse....sorry, I’m a big picture guy and if the so called improvements don’t yield results, then they’re not really improvements. Tough games coming up vs Bucknell, Ole Miss, OkState/Syracuse and Alabama to name a few, but its good for this team to play a tough OOC schedule leading into conference play. Definitely a chance to build a good tournament resume early in the season.
Don't forget @ tOSU and UMD at home is mixed in with those ones.Alabama just lost at home to Penn in the last week. That is a game that should be a win, especially at home.
No. He’s 80 years old.I'm happy for the win, but does anyone take Dookie V seriously anymore?

Hardly...and that’s really f’n stupid. My expectations for PSU basketball are really low...at least match DeChellis’s results....is that too high of expectations for PSU basketball? Is that Indiana football not making the playoffs? Problem is Chambers isn’t even meeting those low ass expectations.Yeah, you're the Indiana football fan losing his shit this year because they aren't good enough to make the playoff. Enjoy that.
