Sorry if this has been covered in the past but we open with an away conference game at Wisconsin, have 3 non conference home games, Ball State, Auburn and Villanova, we have a bye week then are away again at Iowa. I wonder how many times the OSU or Michigan open BIG play with two away games against the upper tier BIG teams? In the same schedule we play Michigan and OSU back to back too although Michigan is a home game. Maybe it's me but it seems like the BIG schedule makers like to give us tough back to back games like OSU and Michigan State the last 2 years. I guess other teams can make the same claim but can the OSU and Michigan make that claim in the BIG?

It’s 3 years away, they have 5 losses between them already, not necessarily top tier. And if we’re going to beat Auburn, we surely should be able to handle mid level big ten opponents.

Ohio State has us and then Michigan back-to-back in 2019 and 2021.

My only take away is that I’m glad we have a marquee OOC game for once. The schedules even themselves out over time. We have tOSU, MSU, Iowa, and Wisky all at home this year. Of course we couldn’t get it done against tOSU and MSU, but it wasn’t the schedule makers fault.

I thought we were getting a tough draw at times but I can't say if it is unusual or the norm across the conference. It would be wise for the conference to backend weigh the traditionally stronger teams, or at least in the second half of the season. I do not see the wisdom of beginning the season with a good in conference opponent any more than scheduling an OOC game against a patsy in Nov. a la Alabama last year.

I'd enjoy viewing a spreadsheet of the next 10+ years of conference scheduling incl. off weeks. With OSU/PSU/UM/MSU side by side to compare and contrast. 10 years should be enough to even out any glitches and bad bounces by the conference schedule makers, eh?

Frankly, what is the purpose of placing Maryland and Rutgers as our closing games in November, it anticlimactic after playing such a demanding slate of opponents mid-season. There could be a rebalancing of schedule to attempt to meet the long-term strength of each program in some manner avoiding the back to back meat grinder.

Do I expect the conference to follow my idea, no way. They like their power exactly the way they currently throw it around. They do not have to justify much of anything they do to anyone or there is no communication if they do.

As a Villanova grad I’m looking forward to that game. Go Cats.
