Raise It !!!!!!!!!!!! Down goes Gotham..... 3-2 in 10 innings

5-2 in the last 7 games, all against Division leaders. Damn, imagine where we'd be in the standings if we were any good.:)

I almost forgot. Give Pedro credit. He made a sweet play diving on the ground in the 8th and getting the out at 1st.

Where'd that one negative Nelly go who was b*tching about our record vs. the reds and such??
That would be me. I still don't know how the Pirates have 67 wins and a .593 winning percent. Third best record in baseball. All this with a lineup that would not intimidate a Little League team and a starting rotation that is leaking oil.

Give them credit. The record is what the record is.

Went to the game tonight. Was an absolutely perfect Summer night for a game. There was a crazy wind blowing most of the game (15 MPH) directly into my face in left field. The Cespedes HR would easily be an out on any other day. Same could probably be said about Walker's shot in the first, but it was more a line drive so who knows. Happ was brilliant tonight. Can't help but think 10 days with Searage helped him out a ton. When he missed, he missed low in the zone or just off the plate. Surprised he was hitting 93-94 several times as well. And Pedro played a great game at 1B. Maybe his best yet.

Happ had a very productive outing....thank goodness! He managed to only walk one, and - in general - seemed to be getting most of his pitches into the zone he was hoping for.

This time of year - in an August pennant race - you take any good result you can get......it's not about developing players, or anything like that, at this point. If Happ can give them 5 innings and keep them in the game.....especially with the expanded rosters coming up (when you don't have to worry about using a couple extra bullpen arms on the days he starts).....that would be fine.

That said....they were hitting rockets off of him most of the night (as opposed to the Buccos, who were limited to mostly dribblers and pop ups against Batting Practice Pitcher Colon - gotta figure the Buccos were a bit jet-lagged after the late flight in from St Louis)......and that is a VERY weak NYM lineup (especially without Duda........what do they have Granderson, Cespedes, and ??????)

But, if Happ goes out next time and again gives up 10 hard hit balls to 20 or so batters......he's probably not going to last long, nor give the team a chance to win.

Right here dude. I'm not saying the Pirates aren't good. They have proven they can hang with the big boys in BOTH leagues. My only point has been there inability to beat the teams they need to beat (in their division). Baseball is a interesting sport. The Pirates playing .500 in their division are ahead of the Cards but being in the same division with them and now the Cubs they have little margin for error. I just don't see this team catching the Cards unless the Cards stumble which leaves them in the stupid wildcard game. I'm skeptical they can hold off the Cubs with the starting rotation the Pirates now have which means a one game showdown in Wrigley with Arrietta likely pitching. Can they end up on top in the division? Yes. But with a harder schedule, their struggles with the Reds and Brewers along with all the head-to-head play against the Cubs and Cards they could just as easily fall flat. Time will tell. In the meantime I respect what they did last night and how they handled the Dodgers. Two out three this weekend in NY would be impressive.

What does that have to do with what the Pirates did last night? Nothing. You really have fallen into the total d-bag category.
Sadly true. I once viewed the Cardinals, and their fans, as classy. Now I find the organization cheats and at least some of their fans are total aholes.

I believe that I would fall into that category To date the Pirates are 21 -29 in the division a .420 % That's
in the same neighborhood as the Brewers, Marlins, Phillies and Rockies, the 4 worst teams in baseball.
If the Pirates were playing at .500 in the division, they would be tied or in first place by themselves. I live on the West Coast so I don't get to see them play . I don't know the why's as to why the Pirates don't have better control on the division, but what is, is what is. I'm sure the analytics would give a better picture. They have 26 games left in division. A 16- 10 record would be a nice finish. With the current pitching lineup, a wild card slot makes it a tough hill to climb.

But I just want to belong ;-)
As a Cubs fan you belong to one of the longest suffering fan bases in sports, so even if you acted like an ahole, which you did not, you would be entitled to a "Cub fan ahole exemption". Besides, all Cubs fans I know hate the arrogant, cheating Cards as much as Pirate fans do, so we have a mutual enemy. Peace!

Some have down played it, but this is why I place a greater emphasis on divisional play, particularly this year. If they were to continue to play within the division at the pace they have thus far, they could lose a WC spot. Not saying they will, but they better figure out how to win these.

There are always a few people who are resentful of other's happiness. It fills a hole in their soul.
Yeah, suppose you're correct. The guy really adds nothing in the way of actual baseball talk. His posts are primarily to flame. I doubt he really knows much about the game.

The Cards are a great team. You are just a great asshole.

Are you related to CR by any chance? You sort of remind me of him.

You probably noticed that he "likes" posts by CR66 and Joe Pa Thetic is the only other one who does.
