I know transitive property does not relate but Vito really took it to Fix last night. RBY beats Fix in a controlled 1 takedown match each time. RBY may also be the smartest wrestler I have watched with his ability to adjust to the circumstances. That being said if a coach, how would you approach this match? RBY lost once before to Vito but I think that is too many years ago for it to give us any information.

I assume RBY will be very measured, takes his shot when he sees it and avoid scrambles. I also thin Vito will be aggressive and want to get into scrambles. What are everyone's thoughts?

I see this as a 4-2 RBY win but am concerned with the unknown.

Vito is very long. Beware the step across from the whizzer. I saw him get several takedowns with ease from that position. RBY uses the whizzer with skill, but it may not be the way to go with Vito. Both are quick, but RBY is quicker. I hope he goes for the first TD to establish the pace

RBY is the better wrestler but could be close.

Vito's length will definitely present some challenges and danger, should be a great match

I wouldn't want to wrestle the RBY that walked off the mat last night he looked pretty intense

I see a close but controlled RBY win. RBY just the better wrestler. Too fast, too cool, to good..That being said, Vito is a very game opponent. Gotta hand it to RBY, Fix is world class opponent and so is Vito..you go 3 for your last 3 against these two..pretty special. Even if he drops this one, RBY is one cool cat and I see a very bright future

The biggest question mark with Vito is which version shows up? He’s incredibly talented but the best version doesn’t always show up. Last year he majored Glory and then 2 weeks later he lost to him. Earlier this year he looked super flat in his loss to Latona. If he is on tonight I think it will be a very tight match. I hope RBY scores early and lets the doubt creep in Vito’s mind. I see RBY winning a 5-2 decision or something close to that

Thanks for continuing to demonstrate your lack of maturity
Not capable of simply doing as you are told. Predictable. If pointing out my shortfalls gives you thrills have at it. I suppose whiney, sniveling twits need something to do.

Thanks for taking the bait. Each time you post it shows your ignorance. Name calling and disparaging are games played by the weak and uninformed. You talk like a bully on a playground behind a keyboard, says more about you than me.

Bullying? You and I started our back and forth as you felt the need to correct my hammering on Spencer. So our first interaction is you telling me what to do on a message board and I was bullying? You don't really get bullying do you?
Gee, got me again. Keep going, Sniff, sniff.

Shut the phuck up and take your preachy little whiney routine someplace else.

The irony in this is that in some show about the Brands at Iowa; Tom was shown saying that if (paraphrase) your goal evades you, you go get the next best thing you can.

I don't understand bailing on your team or yourself. Even Cael had to learn to deal withy defeat (after college).

After watching the RBY match , I think Vito would win 9 out of ten times. The only way RBY beats him is a big move match which I'll say is the 1 out of 10. Vito was quite impressive.
Congrats to RBY on a great career. Wish it would of ended with W and leaving with the win streak in place.
disagree... rby needed to come out aggressive vs. being on top of the hill

I’m never thought I’d see a 133 match RBY’s quickness, let alone surpass it. Vito looked like a cat tonight. That far single leg on his second takedown was breath taking. RBY is too good to lose to anyone 9 out of 10 times. He would adjust. I wouldn’t disagree however with someone saying he met his match from a stylistic point of view.

Exactly - recency bias. Vito is great but he definitely turned it up this tournament to 11. RBY is a great tactician, but he got stunned early multiple times by Vito’s slickness and then got sloppy and Vito was ready to make him pay and put it out of reach.

I mean - didn’t we just see Carr dominate O’Toole several months ago and then get dominated. There were people, including several on FRL, saying Carr wouldn’t lose to KoT again

Vito looked absolutely dialed in tonight, and all tournament long. When I saw him major Fix, I thought RBY might have his hands full. Very impressive performance!

Only if Vito wrestles like he did tonight all ten times. He’s never been able to consistently wrestle at that level. Credit to him, though. He came up with the goods in the biggest moment of his wrestling career.

Vito was very impressive. RBY would be able to game plan h and come out on top but tonight was not his night. I feel bad for RBY but that was a clear dominant performance tonight. We will never know if they match up better as they will never wrestle folkstyle again.

Darn few guys could ever do it (beat RBY this year given how he's wrestled), but the law of averages says that if you wrestle 100+ times in college, even the very best of the best will run into their nemesis one or several times. Have a bad match yourself, feeling a bit under the weather (and I'm not suggesting that RBY lost because he was sick), run into a buzzsaw that catches fire at the right time (what happened with Vito), etc. etc.. It's what makes stuff like 159-0 so very impressive.

It really puts in perspective how impressive Zain’s 94-0 and three straight championships really were (much less Cael’s 159-0…).

Gee whiz, I thought maybe after realizing you were the initial bully in this thread you might apologize. I should have known better. Bullies rarely own their behavior.

I think it’s difficult to prepare for a level you haven’t yet experienced. RBY climbed to the top of the mountain twice…and had no indication that the peak would be higher this year. I think a prior match w Vito would’ve made things much closer w a good chance of a w for RBY

By your profile you have been around since 2012. One can assume that even if you joined at 12 you are now an adult and probably much older than that. You also have over 800 posts on the Iowa wrestling forum many of which are just antagonistic and some of which involve the lowest form of intelligence (i.e. bickering, name calling) You seem to take enjoyment in antagonizing people who you know only through online persona. I engage with antagonistic behavior with people that are well known to me as we know underneath the back and forth we also have the camaraderie and the behavior is for sport. You also seem to indicate that being kind or empathetic toward a competitor is some sort of weakness (i.e. your statement "Shut the phuck up and take your preachy little whiney routine someplace else"). We differ on that idea as I can root for my team/wrestler to win but still grasp the heartache of loss for my rival.

Now you want to claim victimhood of bullying because as others were having an analytical conversation on strategy you interjected nothing analytical, nothing about strategy, nothing concerning anyone previously mentioned in this post, and adding nothing so you could take a shot at Spencer Lee. When called out for such behavior you told me to shut up, called me preachy and told me to leave. Classic example of bully behavior. I have too much emotional intelligence to be negatively impacted by your words but they are in fact bullying behavior. I have been in the military and finished a recognized career in law enforcement and seen things most should not have to see so therefore I prefer to be kind and make everyone's life I come across better. I do not need to lower myself to your level and call you names or tell you to leave as I do not need your acceptance.

As I said, your first interaction with me was you preaching at and instructing me to correct my behavior. Once I respond, you in a typical bully manner, whine, play the victim and accuse me of bullying.
Not needing acceptance? Sure spent a whole lot of words babbling a shit load of rationalization to justify your initial childish interaction.
