Recruiter of the year breaks down the brackets

Zain's "sneaky tough match with Evan Henderson"... maybe Henderson lasts 5 min this time.

I can't quite understand Brooks getting a 2 seed. 185 is probably the weakest weight in the Big Ten and Sammy faced only one ranked wrestler (#8 Dudley).

Hard to describe how badly both JC and JG got hosed - both of them are going to have to wrestle lights-out to even sniff R8.....seriously, not just wrestle well, but quite literally lights out. BTW, if Brooks deserves a #2 Seed for his B1G performance, Jimmy making the B1G Finals deserves at least a seed IMHO. Geno got about what he deserved and will have to show 'em what he's made of at Nationals. He's wrestled some of these matches against highly ranked opponents very close, if he could get over the hump and pull the upset, it could propel his confidence into additional upsets (e.g., wrestler with the hot hand) - confidence is massively important especially in regards to neutral offense....stranger things have certainly happened before.

Manley defaulted out of his last match and is going to be wrestling hurt. Willie conveniently left that out. Also, Jimmy can beat Mecate, not sure why or how he has that as Unwinable.

And for the 4th time, Taylor beats everyone the first time he sees them, then they figure him out...Conaway nearly beat him after losing by 5, the next day. We'll see when Nationals happen.

Conaway has the most difficult draw in relation to seed for Penn State.

I don't think Gulibon's is all that bad for an unseeded wrestler.

Yes, Conaway has a tough draw but again, he nearly beat Taylor and this is the third time he'l see him. I like his chances.

Jimmy got what I think is a decent draw, you weren't going to get out of seeing Ashnault. By the way, if Heil gets there, he's going to find out about Ashnault too, and that's a hell of a lot bigger because Heil is their second biggest seed after Ringer who is automatic.

Geez, 21....don't get all bent bc I said the draws aren't good for PSU.

they ARENT.

feel free to be optimistic about Jimmy and Jordan, but they aren't, ON PAPER, good draws.

i think Gulibon can get to the 1/4's with Ashnault.

but what i think, and what the data is, are two different things.

don't be so defensive dude. penn state will be fine.

He does some of his better work on the freeboard. Don't sweat him.

Agreed. I do think Jimmy got screwed a little bit in regards to no seeding - like you say, if they can elevate Brooks all the way to #2 based on his B1G Tournament, it seems rather reasonable to seed Jimmy at 141 based on making the B1G Tournament Finals and taking 2nd.

Has everyone forgotten that Jimmy has had only ONE TD in the past SEVERAL weeks.

Working my way through the backside using seeding to decide the winner, if Conaway were to lose to Taylor, he would have to beat ur, #13 Kelly and #7 Montoya to be AA and would have #6 DiCamillo to make it to the cons-semis. That's really not that bad. If he were to defeat Taylor and lose to Brewer, he would just need to beat #10 DiJulius to AA and would have #8 Hall to make the cons-semis.

If Gulibon were to win his first two against #5 Manley and #12 Mecate, yes a big if, and loses to Ash, he would only have to beat #10 Presten to AA and would have a rematch with Manley to make the cons-semis. If Jimmy loses in the first round to Manley, after an unranked opponent, he would have to beat #11 Thorn, #14 Meredith and #8 Ward to AA.

Nice work FT!

Working my way through the entire interactive brackets, you can really see how big top 3 placement and bonus are in this tournament. The following individual results end up with these team scores (1) Penn State 122; (2) Iowa 94.5; (3) OSU 87.5; (4) tOSU 64.5. I tried to be realistic with the bonus which probably benefits the other teams. I only went off seed twice, once with Taylor over Conaway and at 125. Just can't see Dance beating Nico or Gilman.

Penn State 122

Nico (2)
Conaway (6)
Gulibon 1-2
Retherford (1)
Nolf (2)
Morelli 1-2
Nickal (1)
McCutch 2-2
McIntosh (1)

Iowa 94.5

Gilman (3)
Clark (2)
Sorenson (2)
Cooper 2-2
Rhodes 1-2
Meyers 2-2
Brooks (2)
Burak (4)
Stoll 3-2

OSU 87.5

Klimara (6)
Harding 1-2
Heil (1)
Collica 3-2
Smith (6)
Dieringer (1)
Rodgers 3-2
Boyde (8)
Weigel 0-2
