Reeder & Scott with significant roles for the Rams

The Reeder situation was always very interesting to me.

He did leave to play with his brother. I was sure that was just BS.

But there you have it - a starting linebacker in the NFL.

Reeder was undrafted free agent. I think Scott was drafted in the 7th round. Now they play for the NFC title.
Yeah pretty cool. Wish Reeder had stayed but I guess blood is thicker than water Forgot until someone pointed it out today that Scott is from Lancaster.

NoThing to do with blood. Reeder did not like PSU. He was not projected to start the year he left. PSU was going to have cabinda, bell and wartman. Wartman ended up getting hurt and PSU needed Reeder but he was already gone.

Ps. His brother is transferring out of UD

Ps. His brother portaled out of UD
It is true that Reeder was a lightning rod for criticism b/c he got on the field too early. It seemed he always was out of position or pi cked the wrong gaps to attack.
Both he and his brother went to my high school and there is definitely truth to them wanting to be together. Colby turned down a late Miami Hurticanes offer so they both passed up more visible stages for Newark.
Delaware just fired their coach...Danny Rocco....who (for now) lives 1 mile from me. Can't blame Colby for trying the portal rather than hit the re-start button again as a Blue Hen in a rebuild.
We could've used Dan and maybe Colby during their years.

Delaware fired the coach after troys first year at Delaware.

We both seem correct Dave Brock was fired during the 2016 season. Danny Rocco replaced him and was fired on November 28, 2021. Oddly he was 1 AA Coach of the year after Covid Spri ng football and a Championship game appearance. Short sighted short leash for UD in my opinion

Reeder may have made some young player mistakes but he looked the part of a PSU LB from back in the day. Haven't seen too many of them lately other than a few notable studs.

I agree wholeheartedly. Was sad to see him go- the potential for future growth was obvious. He was raised by an NFL player to become an NFL player. He was also raised to be a FOOTBALL player, not an "athlete." He uses his arms to wrap up ball carriers to TACKLE THEM, and not just launch himself at guys with his shoulder pads to make highlight reels. Fundamentals have been lacking in our LBs... a nice mix of the two would be fantastic. But if I had to choose Reeder or #12 Brandon Smith- I'll take Reeder every time. He is in the mold that made us LBU

You did not have a choice and Reeder did not like it at PSU.

And some of our 5 star linebackers don't tackle....

Would you rather have a highlight hit on 2nd down with some celebratory taunting thrown in only to be followed up by a missed tackle and long YAC on 3rd down? That's been the way this latest group has been- #12 specifically. But we didn't have a choice on that either....he chose to leave us too.

Fundamentals are lacking- a blind bird can see that- #9 is the next biggest culprit with the same 1st/2nd down celebratory tendencies only to cave or be flagged on 3rd down. Hopefully Manny can restore them to some extent this year- even with less "talent/athleticism."

When is the last time PSU had 10 DBs in the NFL?

Maybe because our linebackers don't reliably tackle?

The point is do you want athletes or football players? Bama, GA, OSU, Clemson have had their pick of the litter who are both and it shows. We have had a few freaks of nature who have had to learn to play new positions and often learned the hard way. #12 had the physical attributes but not the results to match his rating.

#9 is a stellar athlete who will likely be a great pro. But there is no argument that he learned some lessons last year...some which contributed mightily to losing games. His proclivity for untimely penalties is obvious. Maybe other teams targeted him for that reason?

Both play/ed with a flamboyance which historically was not our style....remember the "No names and all game?" tagline. Not so much of late.

I root like hell for anyone who chooses to represent my Alma Mater. Our margin for error for 5 star misses like B. Smith and J. Shorter is thin. Those we get need to be outstanding. For all the potential #12 had/has for an NFL team, he did not markedly improve over his career.

Our d backs in the NFL have nothing to do with that.

Bama, Georgia, clemson and osu. Aren't those the schools that outrecruit psu? Didn't psu lose a lot of recruits to those schools?

You said those schools have the pick of the litter. If psu was a top program with their pick of the litter the tackling would improve.

The reality is your hero let the program slide.

I'm lost. Who is my hero? I really have no idea....great athletes who develop into solid NFL players help our reputation but don't necessarily help us win games. So who is my hero? Reeder? Franklin? Bill O'Brien? Terry Smith? Ron Vanderlein?
