What is up, my PSU bros and brosephines! (although, now I think about it, when was the last time we had someone in this living room identify as female?; do we have any known phines up in here? I'm used to BSD where the Phines are the Queens who rock harder than Radio Raheem; BSDivas we call em!).

I'm making the Trek to Rec for tomorrow's dual and would very much appreciate meeting up with any and all of you fine folk whose written word I've come to worship here in the Church of Internet over the years. It's a super-fun endeavor to place the face of a Real Person and attach it to a screen name. I have managed over the years, through similar activities, to evolve what my wife calls my Internet Friends into Actual Real Life Friends. And since the coffee seems to be flowin and the stories appear to be blowin this morning, I'll elaborate.

So I'm rollin up with my man bman123433412 whatever his handle is on here. At bsd years ago, dude started droppin Chambersburg this, Chambersburg that and I'm all like Waynesboro over here 7174Lyfe!, so we finally agreed to catch up at a Cburg pub one night and waddya know, now we're good buds. I'm jettin out of my Rockville office at 11:30a, to meet him in Cburg at 1p. Then we'll ride up to the Valley of Happiness together.

And we'll come to Whiskers, where I'll meet up with hlstone, who's hooked me up with the ticket I needed. Stone & I first met on here, not sure exact mess board origins, tho, my gmail tells me he was one of my victims in the one & only season I ever played Fantasy Wrestling and won the championship. 2013, look it up.

Wait, to hell with the look it up and I'm also dropping the humble from #humblebrag; here ya go, from Coach Heckert's 3/23/13 email:

We are! The Champion! Singular. Cuz dunkej could not even fathom touching this.

Anyway, I converted Stone from Internet Friend to Real Life Friend the same time I did with a couple of you, I think: at the Allstar Classic at American U, November 2012. Met a buncha yinz at Guapo's on Wisconsin Ave, then walked with Stone over to the arena. Bam! Done. Friendships, in the Age of Internet. Anyway, that was 6 freakin years ago. Time flies when you're winning titles, huh?

I'm still working with bman to see if we're dining at Faccia Luna first, but we'll definitely be rolling through Whiskers pre-match. Question, with it being:
a. Friday night and;
b. 6p start time
Do you think any of you would be up for meeting out afterwards? To get more hang time in, so we can ask the more penetrating questions like how your family's doing, what lingerie you've gotten your wives for Christmas, that sort of thing? Or to engage in what Bloodround has bitten off of Bill Simmons and do a Parent Corner, in which I can bitch to you about how Age 8 is the worst kid age since Age 3, and you can tell me things like "don't you worry; it only gets worse."

That's my vision for this thread: that it be a social thread, one full of joy and f*n and the cheer of the season and the robotic web that connects us all and allows us to share and commiserate over all the connectivity it allegedly removes from us, but which we continue to use and even one day appreciate and sunshine & rainbows overtake run-on sentences.

I do seriously look forward to reading your plans and to catching up in person tomorrow night, over our favorite sport.
pax et amor,
jeffreyp

Lookin forward to seeing you again, Mike. I will hope to catch you before I reach the bar, so I can take your advice on the best on-tap brewskie to order.

We should all try to get DT after for a beer. Shouldn't be to bad as most students will be gone.

I read DT as David Taylor, not Down Town at first. Also, that made more sense in my old school PA Dutch sentence structures. The old "throw the cow over the fence some hay", sorta way.

Now, getting together with DT for a beer would be cool, with proceeds to the NLWC of course.

Federal Taphouse would be fun. I'd also nominate Local Whiskey above the Phyrst--less beer, more whiskey (words to live by?)

HG got a NR from DT DT LJ at the FT.

After Final X both DT and his Mom visited us at the Federal Taphouse so maybe he meant both. :D

Unfortunately, I will not be there for the AZ State dual, but will be doing PBP. See many of you for the Michigan dual at the BJC in early February.

The last time I was in Federal taphouse was after the x games or whatever we called that. Who should walk in but DT himself. The company I was keeping that night called DT and his mom over and they stayed and chatted for several minutes. It was pretty cool being able to congratulate him in person.

You are killing me, man. The lingerie wearing side of my relationship has made plans for me. I'll be sneaking a look at the scores during the dinner party at our house.

Pumped for the match. Hope to see you on Friday. Have about 25 guys and wives so far. We have a great time before we go inside an hour before the match. Then hands cupped to the mouth screaming when Zahid is grabbing ankles. Lol

Finally! Someone who makes my manifestos look like tweets.

See you guys before and after for a cocktail! I wish. A bunch of us are getting together to watch on a 10 foot projector screen. Some dont follow as close as I do and it will be nice to see them when they realize we are the heavy frontrunners again.

I'll give you this--he's dang nasty at that particular skill--doing what no one at Worlds could do.

To me, that's not "grabbing ankles". That's "picking ankles". I hate ankle grabbers. Delgado is an ankle grabber, everytime someone shot, he dove for the ankles. I disapprove of that. What Zahid did to Dake there gets my 100% support.

Substitute Heil for Delgado if you'd like.

Isn't that called a funk? (Pardon my ignorance. Been watching folkstyle for a decade, but by no means an expert. Hell, I didn't know what Bo's elevator was when he hit it. )

When an attacking wrestler gets to the legs or ankles and gets the opponent on his rear-end and said opponent reaches over the attacker and grabs their ankle(s) to try to prevent a takedown?

Maybe, I would say funk isn't necessarily a derogatory term but "ankle grabber" is. I would say Bo can do funk but isn't an ankle grabber. Delgado used to always dive at ankles to force a stalemate and I hate that. I guess it's all in the way it's done. To me, a good funk can turn defense into offense

"Funk" is not derogatory!!!!!!;)

I’ll be there with wife, son and girlfriend, to be clear, son’s gf, mine was busy.:):p

Due to wife’s work we wont be able to make it to SC in time for prematch drinks, and due to an early saturday am bus trip to NYC we won’t be able to stop for after match libations either. Bummer!

Paul, I’ll be there too, 2nd time this season, most in one year since I was a student...I think retirement suits me! Where are your seats? I’ll be in N1U wearing a blue Penn State wrestling shirt... you can’t miss me!

I will be at Whiskers around 5. I think I will be sporting a Villanova visor tomorrow. Feel free to say Hi.

I won't be able to hang out long after. Reffing a tourney at 9am.

Looking forward to seeing you all.
Nova, we will catch up at the Mich dual.
Paul, see you at Dugans

Update on our little hockey player, she is killing it on the field and in the classroom. Her indoor team is trying to qualify for U-16 NIT this Sun in Downingtown (see you there Tom Mc)

Good luck to her and her team. Alas, I won't be at USTC on Sunday. Too many other holiday commitments.

I was happy to read in a recent post that you're reffing. Youth matches are tiring, but also a blast. Do your best to make it fair, but also fun, for all participants.

HLStone, what are you reffing? Wrestling or hockey? Great news on your daughter, we will all be cheering her on.

As an aside, if anyone is ever in the Wilkes-Barre area on a weekend let me know. We can meet up at Dugan’s Pub and have some of the best pizza ever, made by HL!

Italian, I will be in a blue PSU tshirt, you should be able to pick me out, lol. I am not sure where my seats are yet. I purchased to SRO seats and then I am getting two from Amattaro but i don’t know where yet. Last year we bought tickets from someone for tOSU and ended up behind SRATH plus someone who I had coached in soccer years ago who was a school mate of my brother-in-law. Small world among the 6,000 or so at Rec!

...and without saying it, Tom gives other sound advice...it's more about the participants (kids), so as much as you can, ignore the parents :).

Franklin Co. checking in. I'm heading up with my old man. If you look like your brother, P, I'll find you
