What is up, my PSU bros and brosephines! (although, now I think about it, when was the last time we had someone in this living room identify as female?; do we have any known phines up in here? I'm used to BSD where the Phines are the Queens who rock harder than Radio Raheem; BSDivas we call em!).
I'm making the Trek to Rec for tomorrow's dual and would very much appreciate meeting up with any and all of you fine folk whose written word I've come to worship here in the Church of Internet over the years. It's a super-fun endeavor to place the face of a Real Person and attach it to a screen name. I have managed over the years, through similar activities, to evolve what my wife calls my Internet Friends into Actual Real Life Friends. And since the coffee seems to be flowin and the stories appear to be blowin this morning, I'll elaborate.
So I'm rollin up with my man bman123433412 whatever his handle is on here. At bsd years ago, dude started droppin Chambersburg this, Chambersburg that and I'm all like Waynesboro over here 7174Lyfe!, so we finally agreed to catch up at a Cburg pub one night and waddya know, now we're good buds. I'm jettin out of my Rockville office at 11:30a, to meet him in Cburg at 1p. Then we'll ride up to the Valley of Happiness together.
And we'll come to Whiskers, where I'll meet up with hlstone, who's hooked me up with the ticket I needed. Stone & I first met on here, not sure exact mess board origins, tho, my gmail tells me he was one of my victims in the one & only season I ever played Fantasy Wrestling and won the championship. 2013, look it up.
Wait, to hell with the look it up and I'm also dropping the humble from #humblebrag; here ya go, from Coach Heckert's 3/23/13 email:
We are! The Champion! Singular. Cuz dunkej could not even fathom touching this.
Anyway, I converted Stone from Internet Friend to Real Life Friend the same time I did with a couple of you, I think: at the Allstar Classic at American U, November 2012. Met a buncha yinz at Guapo's on Wisconsin Ave, then walked with Stone over to the arena. Bam! Done. Friendships, in the Age of Internet. Anyway, that was 6 freakin years ago. Time flies when you're winning titles, huh?
I'm still working with bman to see if we're dining at Faccia Luna first, but we'll definitely be rolling through Whiskers pre-match. Question, with it being:
a. Friday night and;
b. 6p start time
Do you think any of you would be up for meeting out afterwards? To get more hang time in, so we can ask the more penetrating questions like how your family's doing, what lingerie you've gotten your wives for Christmas, that sort of thing? Or to engage in what Bloodround has bitten off of Bill Simmons and do a Parent Corner, in which I can bitch to you about how Age 8 is the worst kid age since Age 3, and you can tell me things like "don't you worry; it only gets worse."
That's my vision for this thread: that it be a social thread, one full of joy and f*n and the cheer of the season and the robotic web that connects us all and allows us to share and commiserate over all the connectivity it allegedly removes from us, but which we continue to use and even one day appreciate and sunshine & rainbows overtake run-on sentences.
I do seriously look forward to reading your plans and to catching up in person tomorrow night, over our favorite sport.
