There has been a lot of discussion about the safety position going into next season. Some have been more optimistic then others. I certainly think there is a reason for concern especially when compared to other positions on the roster but we also just came off of a season where we replaced two NFL safeties with relative unknowns. 2019 we have a penciled in starter in Taylor who improved as the year went on. Is he limited in some areas? Certainly. There is then a combination of Sutherland, Wade, Brisker and Randolph as for sure safeties. A huge wild card would be Petrishen. I could easily see some position changes before next fall camp as well. Point is there are certainly reason to be concerned but its not necessarily a dire situation in my opinion as some seem to be making it. Does it concern me in terms of winning a Big Ten/National Championship? Yes. But this team has had worse pre season situations that have turned out to be fine.
