Suriano, Verkleeren, ....Not if they got guys like Beard, Nevils, Barraclaugh, Evans … all could be solid starters. And don’t get too irritated. We are just spitballing nonsense. We know this 🤣

I'd swear I saw an old Tweet recently with one of the Jordans of tOSU setting a deadlift PR and a comment from a QWright saying it wouldn't improve getting off bottom. If Beau wants to get off the bottom faster, he needs to start doing more deadlifts. 🙄

I would have to think “anecdotally speaking” that a squat has way more to do with getting off bottom than a deadlift. A deadlift is activating all of your pull muscles while a squat activates the front side push muscles in the legs. Again purely anecdotal, but my deadlift was probably above average and my squat probably below average and I couldn’t get off the bottom for shit in college 🤣🤣🤣.
I have terrible getting off bottom today, but then again, I don't view that as a bad thing.Again purely anecdotal, but my deadlift was probably above average and my squat probably below average and I couldn’t get off the bottom for shit in college 🤣🤣🤣.
I think core strength is the most important thing for getting off bottom. Most breakdowns attempt to extend the bottom man, putting the core in a disadvantageous position. Maintaining a compact position with back pressure is the key to getting away (along with technical aspects like hand control).I would have to think “anecdotally speaking” that a squat has way more to do with getting off bottom than a deadlift. Not true. Sasso out lengthed him and he was horsed by Hardy and Alirez. At 133 he is not getting horsed by anyone and that includes Vito. Now obviously Vito would probably have a good advantage in pure wrestling from neutral but on the mat he will not be big brothered. Not that I could prove it, but I would be hard pressed to believe Beau gave up much muscle size competing against other 141 pounders. He lost to the champ, the runner-up and Hardy. In all 3 he might have been stuck on bottom a bit, but he got beat because he didn't shoot and score, while the other guy did. If Beau secures the initial takedown in any of those matches he probably wins.
Sasso? You meant Woods I believe. I didn't think he got horsed as much as he got outwrestled. He cleans a tiny bit up, decides to legitimately push his attacks I think he finishes first. If he doesn't he will be very good, but not on top of the stand. I am hoping he takes the last 5 seconds of the Matthews' match and figures out when I want that phucking leg I just need to go get the phucking thing. Otherwise he is vulnerable to Woods, Hardy, Alirez as well as kids the caliber of Matthews. Not true. Sasso out lengthed him and he was horsed by Hardy and Alirez. Woods. Pardon me. I simply see this as evidence for a move to 33. I'm supporting him at 41 or 33 but feel 33 gives him a better Natty chance.Sasso? You meant Woods I believe. In that regard, I agree that the squat would be more beneficial, though deadlifting should have carry over as well. The front squat is even better as it's harder on the core and upper back stabilizers.
Maryland will be at the Cliff Keen tournament in Las Vegas in December, so anyone who is planning on going will get a chance to see him wrestle live. He should get some decent competition too, so it will be a good way to see where he is at for the coming season.Instagram won't post for me so here's a screenshot. Maybe I missed it but I didn't see anyone post before that he was going to Maryland.

Zach is the one who has really been hitting the weights hard. He was at 184 for his last season at Stanford. He’s probably somewhere around 230 now and it isn’t fat!Nick looks he's been hittin' the weights a lot...
He took 2nd place in a tournament at Missouri over the weekend (maybe yesterday). He lost to Elam in the finals, but Elam is pretty good. Don’t know what happened with Pitt. Maybe he was a little tired from the weekend competition.Seth just lost to Dayton Pitzer of Pitt, 4-2. A win would have won the dual for the Terps😕

no matter how much you deadlift the old armbar and gutwrench well you aint going no where!I would have to think “anecdotally speaking” that a squat has way more to do with getting off bottom than a deadlift. It's fun rooting for the guys we got to know. Makes the sport better for me.Was rooting big time for Seth last night. It’s fun rooting for guys that left on good terms
Am I missing any starters from other teams?
133 Teske
184 Negron
197 Beard
285 Nevills
That’s right… I forgot it was a reversal rather than an escapeIt was 4-3. They traded reversals and escapes. Pitzer won on RT.
The result isn't terribly surprising -- Pitzer is quick and a monster on top. The manner (trading reversals) is weird.
It was great to see Verk finally get a chance to wrestle at NCAAs last year (tough draw, but whatever, great to see him there). He was a warrior for PSU when called upon. Was rooting big time for Seth last night. It’s fun rooting for guys that left on good terms

Anyone who is planning on going to CKLV in two weeks will get a chance to see him again. His brother AJ placed there last year. I’m sure Seth will get some good competition. It's fun rooting for the guys we got to know. Makes the sport better for me.
