What should Seth Nevills do now that Kerkvleit is coming aboard? As a fan I want to see them both starting and competing somewhere. I am assuming most people would take Kerk in a wrestle off and he must be pretty confident since he knows Seth is already here. Would be interesting if Seth beat him. Would Kerk then move on again?

Does anyone know if Seth is healthy? Just wondering why we haven’t seen him competing in any opens. I only recall him wrestling a few matches last year when he wasn’t enrolled. Might be getting a little rusty given his lack of matches since high school. If I recall correctly Seth beat Hemida last season and Hemida ended up placing 6th at ncaa’s.

Ohio State/ Thomas Haines sloppy seconds part part 2? Guess Kerk would be sloppy fourths at this point but you get what I’m saying. Wonder if Ryan goes after Seth now needing a heavy?

I for one am not ready to favor one over the other. I suspect both of them are mature competitors that have a lot of confidence in their abilities and they will see how it works out on the mat. IMO it's too early to be thinking of anyone transferring--I think each one will battle for his place on this phenomenal team!

Ryan still has 2 more years of Singletary. Of course this time last year everyone thought Singletary was being recruited over with Kerk committing to Ohio State look how that worked out, Singletary is still the man there at 285.

I think they wrestle the rest of this school year in the room and if one is clearly better than the other, the other enters the portal? I mainly say this from a money perspective as I cannot imagine there is a lot of money available for the backup next year.

Redshirts, Olympic redshirts and potential injury. It certainly wouldn't be the first time that Cael insured each of his HWTs got at least a year as a starter.

2 heavies in the same class... How would that work?

I am thinking Seth has gained residency in PA, so heading back to the west coast may cost....Im not really sure how that works...if anyone can come up with a plan its Cael---maybe 2 NC each split their time..

Kerk will have a RS after this year and could also delay enrollment like Seth did....Maybe we dont see Kerk until 2022????

Or maybe see Kerk at the scuffle?

To late to delay enrollment as he already started his 5 year clock when he enrolled at tOSU.

If Seth does not win the spot, he could transfer to Lock Haven. About an hour from PSU, can still work out at the NLWC.

May the best man win the spot. Good luck to both of them.

I think that there is a lot of gray area right now on Kerk's eligibility., I doubt that Tom will make these an easy transition. I think that Tom was a little butt hurt over this move.:) So I doubt that we will see him this year other then in the background on media days.

are we sure he started his clock? I did not compete for tOSH that I am aware of. I freely admit, I do not have much knowledge when it comes to eligibility. I know that he qualifies for a Olympic shirt and he can talke a regular RS also. But what exactly starts the clock is very gray to me.
is it start of classes? is is competing attached?
I did read somewhere that he was taking online classes so maybe is clock has started.

Tan Tom broke the national letter of intent, when he refused to let him wrestle off. It's really a contract, the wrestler get some money off his tuition and the school gets his service to wrestle. Tan Tom refused his service thus breaking the contract.

depending on his life goals ... a Penn State degree > a Lock Haven degree
It all depends upon the money situation. The guy who is not starting is probably going to get a very small amount of athletic aid. Lets say Seth can get half a scholarship for Loch Haven, he goes there for about $12K a year versus about $25K a year at PSU assuming a small amount of athletic aid. If that is my kid, go to LHU and save $50K and also get to start for 4 years. No brainer decision in my book.

is this legit??? I have never heard of this argument??? sounds logical, but we are talking NCAA here--most times logic goes out the window.

Seth is very good he will not lay down I think he wins the spot for next season at least. And I would go one round with McCoy If one of you steps up and goes also.

Nothing even close to this exists in the NLI rules. The wrestler's obligation is one year in residency, the school's obligation is financial aid. There are releases and appeals to get out of an NLI ... but none relate to the comment above.

Is it true he was not allowed to wrestle off?

Does LHU even give out 9.9?

You forgot the 10% scholarship they accepted because they just want to have fun.

Co-sign! Seth was highly regarded in his own right coming out of Clovis and he has spent the past year rolling with Olympic Gold Medalists and National Champions. Something tells me he's a bit more bullish on his prospects than many of the posters are on this forum. Fine. I just wish people would let things play a bit before ushering the poor kid out the door. It's distasteful IMHO.

OP asks "What should Seth Nevills do now that Kerkvleit is coming aboard?"

Answer: He should compete, just like Kerk.

My worthless $.02
