SIAP.....Freeh out at Pepper Hamilton

Not hard on me at all. Quite the opposite. I'm sitting here four years in with a cheshire cat grin knowing the university is and will continue to be better because of the courageous decisions made by some remarkable people under extremely difficult circumstances. Do we still have a nationally recognized academic/research institution? Do we still have a very good and financially stable Athletic's department? Do kids still want to come to PSU to learn? Is our endowment growing? The answer is yes, yes, yes and yes.

Damn, man.. that's a whole lotta yesses. Curious though... nowhere in your highlight reel (re the advancement of penn state) do i see even one mention of the football program. yes, you mention sandy's athetic dept, but nowhere what is arguably THE pride and joy of the school.. it's football program.

simply put, there is a hardcore group of elite snobs that want the football program to fade into the sunset... that believes the university will be better off without it.

then there is everybody else -- those who know that if it weren't for penn state football (aka, JVP, and everything he brought to the University), we'd still be languishing in the dark ages... a place where kids from pennsylvania went to school when they couldn't get accepted elsewhere. i grew up in pennsylvania when the school was an after-thought. It sure isn't today, and that has nothing to do with the retards running the BOT.

this University owes pretty much all that it is today to JVP.

and his football teams carried that torch which lit the way.

But, at every public meeting a simple request that "The Board ask Mr Freeh to meet with them, publically - as he PROMISED to do when he cashed his $8,000,000 check - to discuss his findings"

It would take 20 seconds. It should be asked at every meeting. At least force the Scoundrels to publically refuse.

I'd love to hear Lubrano weigh in on this thought.

How dumb do they think we are, really? Freeh claimed no ties to PSU, which took all of five minutes to refute, simply on MBNA-TSM connection. His law partner, Sporkin, is a PSU graduate (and fellow classmate of Zimmerman's, and ET Mimi Coppermith). Any ancient BoT moron would have known that instantly. I say Kenny was clever enough to conceal all of that, by keeping it off the record.

Freeh will hide behind the "pending litigation" excuse to not speak publicly about his report.

Probably something he anticipated and knew he would never have to publicly defend it. He and Emmert turned down Bob Costas' invitation to talk about it with the Paterno experts. Big surprise!
But.....why wouldn't you make the request?

If you were trying to HELP Freeh....if you're BFFs with Freeh....what would you do?
You would NEVER hold him accountable....never even put forward the request/demand that he live up to his word (actually, live up to HIS CONTRACT), and do what you paid him $8,000,000 to do - which was SUPPOSED TO INCLUDE coming in and discussing/explain/defending his report and its conclusion.

And that task - meeting to discuss the results of his "investigation" - is not some ODD expectation.
Anyone who receives a multi-million dollar commission to compile some report would CERTAINLY expect that upon its conclusion he would meet with his "commissioners" and other affected parties to explain and discuss his findings.
The idea that this was never done is simply incomprehensible - aside from the fact that his commissioners had zero interest (for, what should now be clear to everyone, obvious reasons)

Yup. Its also incomprehensible that the commissioners of the report would not vote as a full BOT on accepting the findings before having the chair of the BOT hold a press conference accepting responsibility for the supposed failures mentioned in the report and even so much as calling CSSP out by name in the press conference as folks who failed the children and allowing the NCAA to use the report to issue massive sanctions. Truly unreal.

Oh no. He grabs the spotlight whenever he can.
Who can forget his appearance alongside Tom Ridge at an event to foment war against Iran?
Anyone want to guess how much they got paid?
A picture says a thousand words.

This is my favorite topic in our saga, as you know.

I continue to be amazed as to how many people refuse to "get it."
