Or do they look to the outside? If they go to the outside, would think Navy's Ken Niumatalolo, Troy's Neal Brown, Mike Houston James Madison, Charlie Strong USF, and the App State HC would all be viable candidates.
That's quality Bob. It made me laugh.Canada takes over Maryland!

Here’s hoping for Mike Leach
Mike Leach doesn't make me laugh, he is a very good coach. I understand the Canada comment. That's quality Bob. It made me laugh.

No coach is his right mind would take that job with a lame duck President and AD. AD could be gone by end of the week too. Who knows? My guess is that it would be someone without much experience, but Canada's job for the rest of the season and maybe beyond. Some other names

BUILD A WALL! (Although it will have to be at least partially floating - there is a lot of border in the Great Lakes).

HUH? Locksley was 2-26 at New Mexico, certainly doesnt sound like a home run to me!Locksley would be a homerun for them. He is from the MD area and has ties there. I am not sure UMD can afford him though.
How about Schiano? Will they give him an interview.
no idea why they would go with Canada. he is the ultimate journeyman/offensive coordinator for hire. look at his resume, literally changes school's every year. zero previous head coaching experience. plus he is still a little tainted by the whole Durkin thing even though he had nothing to do with it. UMD needs to go clean break and go hire a MAC/Sun Belt/AAC coach with ties to the mid-atlantic recruiting area. I think Fickell would be an interesting hire from Cincy. Go hard after the App State coach. maybe call up charlie strong at USF.
UMd has really been a snake-bit program.
We'll never know, but I think Durkin was well on his way to building a Top-25 program in College Park...…. and there is a wicked good crop of Maryland/DC recruits coming through for the 2020 class.
If this thing had not blown up this summer, and if they coulda' gotten their share of those 2020 recruits (which I think they probably would have) they would have been in a pretty good spot.
Now? Ugh.
I wouldn't be surprised if Canada stayed on (he is accomplished enough to be a HC somewhere)….. but even if he does, I expect their 'cruitin will be kinda shitty for a while.
And if they look for a replacement from outside? Good luck.
Situation probably sets their program back 5 years.... I would guess.
Wasn't he the coach when PSU played them in Baltimore?Locksley has no chance at Maryland given his sketchy track record at New Mexico. He was suspended there for punching an assistant coach, and had other off the field issues. Maryland needs a choir boy and that’s not him.
Surprised nobody knows that he was already the head coach at Maryland. He took over after Edsall got the boot a few years ago mid season.

Wrong - They have plenty of Under Armour money.Turtles have no money. Canada if or until he fails is the budget way to go.
They can always point to Rutgers as an example of how things could be worse.

I think so. He went 1-5 as interim coach in 2015.Wasn't he the coach when PSU played them in Baltimore?
They had UA money. UA has had a tough 2+ years, although their earnings were up 23% and they appear to be turning things around with new management and restructuring.
Well see. They are still due another 400 person layoff at least that was the last I saw.

The days of UA tossing $50m to the Terps for "marketing" are gone for the foreseeable future.
