Or do they look to the outside? If they go to the outside, would think Navy's Ken Niumatalolo, Troy's Neal Brown, Mike Houston James Madison, Charlie Strong USF, and the App State HC would all be viable candidates.

No coach is his right mind would take that job with a lame duck President and AD. AD could be gone by end of the week too. Who knows? My guess is that it would be someone without much experience, but Canada's job for the rest of the season and maybe beyond.

Yeah, he's no longer calling plays. I still think he gets a mid-level HC job sooner than later. Everything going on at USC right now is about Clay Helton trying to save him job. Firing Callaway didn't look good either in my opinion.

no idea why they would go with Canada. he is the ultimate journeyman/offensive coordinator for hire. look at his resume, literally changes school's every year. zero previous head coaching experience. plus he is still a little tainted by the whole Durkin thing even though he had nothing to do with it. UMD needs to go clean break and go hire a MAC/Sun Belt/AAC coach with ties to the mid-atlantic recruiting area. I think Fickell would be an interesting hire from Cincy. Go hard after the App State coach. maybe call up charlie strong at USF.
Locksley would be a homerun for them. He is from the MD area and has ties there. I am not sure UMD can afford him though.

Schiano has a bad history. I don't think the Terps could interview Schiano or (if he was available which he isn't) Mike Leach.
They have no better option, will have a huge issue getting a new coach without a President or AD and he is already in place. The devil you know....
Locksley has no chance at Maryland given his sketchy track record at New Mexico. He was suspended there for punching an assistant coach, and had other off the field issues. Maryland needs a choir boy and that’s not him.

He recruited really well last year but his recruiting this year and that was before all this wasn't very good. Word around the Balto. area was that some of the stuff that was going on got out to recruits and parents and it did not go over well and that he was an avg. coach at best.
Why would he be a homerun hire? He was their interim coach after they got rid of Edsall and was horrible.

They had UA money. UA has had a tough 2+ years, although their earnings were up 23% and they appear to be turning things around with new management and restructuring.
