So does Maryland go with Matt Canada?

Who knows what they will do, but the smart thing to do now is make a clean sweep. Canada will be fine and make a good living wherever he goes. Delmarva is a huge hotbed of football talent right now and James Franklin and Urban Meyer are getting all the best ones. UMd can be a really good football program, they have access to the talent -- but they have got to be able to demonstrate to Maryland parents that they won't kill any more football players. They do that, they keep some good players at home, they'll be successful because they're the only B1G program located in ACC country.

Everybody associated with Durkin, everyone who was within 10 miles of Jordan McNair's death, should move on after the season.

Evans needs to be gone too. Never should have been hired in the first place based on his gigantic turd of a DUI arrest (with a bimbo, red panties between his legs, trying to intimidate the officer by repeatedly telling him he was the athletic director of the University of Georgia and statements like ""I am not trying to bribe you, but is there anything you can do without arresting me?") If there's ever a DUI arrest that should disqualify you from a major leadership position of a university, that's a pretty good example).

Locksley has no chance at Maryland given his sketchy track record at New Mexico. He was suspended there for punching an assistant coach, and had other off the field issues. Maryland needs a choir boy and that’s not him.

Surprised nobody knows that he was already the head coach at Maryland. He took over after Edsall got the boot a few years ago mid season.

I'm sorry but taking over for a half season isn't the same as being the head coach. Bradley wasn't really our head coach when Joe got wrongfully fired. He was a stopgap.

Locksley going to NM was a huge mistake. It never made any sense and he definitely doesn't fit the profile they want now.

Don’t need Mr. Right - just Mr. Right Now.

Respectfully think Maryland’s recruiting wouldn’t go anywhere with a coach that old that quite probably wouldn’t be around for a recruit’s 3, 4 or 5 years.

Maryland would probably be better off going through Fairgambit Enterprises - Personnel Division and coming up with a candidate no one has ever heard of before!

Maybe. Probably. But, known quantity and hometown boy who could at least bridge the gap to their next ‘long term’ hire. Has a great pedigree and is a good recruiter. I thought we’d still have Bill O’Brien at this point, so thinking you’re getting ‘the guy’ with every hire isn’t necessarily a plan worth betting on.

No crap. Was he or was he not officially the head coach? Yes, he was.

Question is, does Canada want MD? I don't think Canada is ever going to be a good HC. But he'll have some hype after this season. Does he really want Maryland? Good recruiting area, but Canada has never stuck around anywhere long enough to be a recruiter. Plus, MD will still have baggage even w/o Durkin

Well Butch Jones says he is interested....plus some other interesting info, like Nick was touted for hiring guys like Jones to be an annalist, well it looks like Alabama pays him $35k....

The Maryland job hasn’t even been open for 48 hours and already one former head coach is throwing his hat into the ring. Reportedly.

Citing sources close to Butch Jones, Rivals.com is reporting that the former Tennessee head coach has an interest in the head coaching opening at Maryland. The 50-year-old Jones is in the midst of his first season as an offensive analyst at Alabama.

Jones spent nearly five seasons as the Volunteers’ head coach before he was fired by UT in November of last year. As noted by the Knoxville News Sentinel, Jones’ hiring by Maryland, or any other program for that matter, would benefit the UT athletic department’s financial bottom line.

Jones getting another head coaching job would be good news for Tennessee, as it would help mitigate the buyout he’s owed. Tennessee owed Jones an $8.26 million buyout when it fired him. The buyout is due in monthly installments throughout the duration of his contract, which was set to expire on Feb. 28, 2021. His Tennessee contract required him to try to find a new job to mitigate the buyout.

At Alabama, Jones is making a paltry $35,000.

On Tuesday, Maryland announced that DJ Durkin, on paid administrative leave since early August in the wake of the death of one of his football players as well as a report of a toxic culture within the football program, had been reinstated as head football coach. A day later, amidst an avalanche of criticism from football players, student groups and high-ranking government officials, U of M, College Park president Wallace Loh announced that Durkin had been dismissed as the Terrapins’ coach.

Jones can coach, but if I were a Terp I wouldn't want him to be the face of the program. He has his own "culture" issues. Maryland would be better off sticking with Canada.
