So what's the 2016-2017 line-up going to be....perdictions

Not too optimistic about Cortez up at 141, but I can see trying it. I'm ready for something new at 184. Rasheed works.

Didn't want to.say this until.after the tournament but rumors and smoke Rasheed is transferring from.other site. Not an insider so I have no idea but I heard it more than once from different people.

Which "other site" would that be? Gee, there seems to be lots of "rumors" of this kind floating around lately.....is this a "jaw-dropping" rumor or just of the "run of the mill" variety?

I heard similar rumor from some other Penn State's sitting around me, but since I saw him walking around with other Penn State kids I just figured probably just same crap different day. Now that I have seen him participating in the team celebration, I am really thinking just another silly rumor.

I asked this on another thread but what is the word with Moss and Beitz? Thanx

125 - Suriano
133 - Guilibon
141 - Cortez
149 - Retherford
157 - Nolf
165 - Joseph/Morelli
174 - Nickal
184 - Rasheed/Cutch
197 - Cassar
HWT- Nevills

Is this a national championship caliber line-up? I truly don't know - someone in the know able to break down some of the new names to the roster relative to the top-tier talent

Nico vs Soriano. Soriano isn't going to win national championship, at least on paper. Wouldn't be surprised with a nice finish and all American status. Will be a drop off in points scored at 125 in 2017.

Cortez vs Conaway. Cortez got the better of Jordan at NLO 5-4. Cortez has higher ceiling. Equal points here in 2017, little less-little more won't surprise.

Jimmy vs Jimmy. This actually is a great battle because it is with himself for real. He should be stronger and look more the 141 part. All has to do with confidence, the skill is there. He needs better regular season results, more consistency and intensity so he has a better seed and better road. I don't think he will figure everything out but I think he will be better in his final season and all American. More points from 141 and should offset the point loss at 125.

Zain. Same.

Nolf. Same or a tad better. He will be in national final and rack up same points.

Joseph or morelli. Morelli showed signs but Joseph has a lot of talent. Joesph could certainly all American at 165. Plus points from 165 results in 2016.

Bo. Same or tad better. Will be toward the top at 174 and will score a ton of points. He learned a tough lesson in the national tournament. It should serve him well moving forward. He didn't have the bonus points I expected he would in nationals, could see more points from 174 next year.

184. Cutch and Rasheed. cutch was solid before injury and Rasheed has a lot of skill. Cutch beat the national finalist earlier in the year. If healthy this weight should score a lot more in 2017. Cutch should have all American potential and we will see what Rasheed has.

197. Cassar. Obviously a big point drop off from smack but another guy with a lot of talent. Not sure what to expect here but obviously a pretty big drop off from 2016.

HWT. Nick will hopefully be healthy and if he is and strong then he should be in top tier of heavyweights. This will be Snyders class but Nevills has ability to be in the next pack of guys. A lot more points here if healthy.

As a team we will lose points at 125, 197 for sure, maybe 133 but we should gain points at 141, 165, 184 and heavyweight. If healthy Penn State will be very tough to beat in 2017.

Not sure that Cassar is that big of mystery or a drop-off at 97 given his performance at World Jr's (especially considering that Mac was really wrestling up a weight class and does not really have the length for 97 - people comment that he was giving up strength to Cox, but I think it was more the length and athleticism he was giving up to Cox, not "strength"....Mac was plenty strong for 197.).

I get your point I'm just throwing it out there as the one guy who stated it was a pretty good insider on the wrestling side of things. I have no idea however.

True story....I had a guy tell me the same thing about Rasheed and said it was fact. I could have paid for my drink and walked away from that, but I asked where he heard this fact and said he read it on the internet. Insert funny comment...I know.

The guy came off as an insider because he had a ton of information, but if you spend time on the cross sections of websites that are available an outsider can come quickly off as an insider to those who dont ask the follow-up question. Not to mention the interactions of posters off the public forums that happens with an enormous amount of information being exchanged that becomes more telephone game than info between trusted friends.

on a scale of RUcreedo (a 0) to Cael (himself being a 10), Im guessing this is more creedo than cael. If it was a fact, there are 2 dozen handles on here that know the truth and would post it or leak it through trusted sources.

Does anybody know what is going on with Cassar? Is he in school for the spring semester?

Tim Owen has said Jimmy had trouble cutting to 133 and doesn't see him going back down. You guys think he does?

What about incoming freshman Hall,redshirt?

I have NO inside information but if you ask Jimmy G to bulk up and become a 141 lber this season, it just makes no sense to now ask him to tear all of that work down to make 133. Unless we have two 141 AA caliber wrestlers and none at 133 I just don't see this as happening.

Also, I doubt Cortez would have transferred here if he thought Jimmy G was going to wrestle 133 again.

Only Jimmy knows where he best fits next year. If the difference was lack of size/strength for 141 then he definitely makes the difficult cut to 133. If it's something else, then he stays at 141. I think Cael will let him decide.

Based on what "reports" about Jimmy not seeing 133 again? Is your eyesight working amigo? LOL, Jimmy hasn't gained a pound, he moved up for Cael and for the Team.

Cassar and Morgan are back and forth in the room. If Rasheed hits the weights he will be great at 184. Nick must transform his body into a man by hitting the weight really HARD. He has the skill set to hang with Snyder but needs to get a lot stronger !

Makes sense, but then why did Cortez wrestle at 41 late in the season? He's either gearing up for 41 for next year or there was better competition at that tourney at 41 vs 33

Tough to lift weights with an injury that would have ended most seasons. Nick will be a lot stronger next year.

I was told Cortez was wrestling 141 to get used to heavier kids, but was definitely going 133. He weighs under 141 walking around. Jimmy is plenty strong enough for 141. He was close to AA and he will be better next year if he gets his confidence.
