Stanford PBP Thread

Releases him, 2-1
Low shot, Zain comes backdoor, looking to stack him. Gathers both legs for the takedown. With a turk again... Comes cross-face, treating dude's head like a watermelon. Elevates the leg. FALL for Zain!

I hated Metcalf, but Nolf's the homie, and doesn't seem like he'd interrupt a backflip.
5-4 Nolf, as he starts on bottom for 2nd

escape Nolf. TD Fox on a low shot. escape and takedown Nolf. 9-6. Fox takes a decade to come back to center, adjusting anything he can. Stall warning. Escape and takedown. 11-7, optional start with Nolf.
Escape... Takedown. 13-8

Escape Fox. Takedown Nolf. I feel like a broken record. Again. And again. 19-11 and optional start.
19-12. Stall makes it 20-12, last second TD makes it 22-12 going into 3rd. Fox takes bottom. Regular start.

22-12 is an entire dual for Pitt.

Final: 36-6, losing only 165 and 141. Good dual for the Nits. Joesph learns about throws and Jimmy gets beat by a tough, tough McKenna. Suriano is wrestler of the dual or whatever.

I listened to the broadcast on GOPSUSPORTS.com. Any chance there will be a video posted somewhere later?

Based on these 2 duals this weekend. I am very impressed with Cortez, he looks like he can turn anyone and get back points. I also liked the way the Joseph battled back after being down 12-1. Suriano looks like the real deal and with beating the number 4 guy should jump in the rankings. I am happy that Nevills is healthy and is looking good. Bo looks like he is on a mission to pin everyone this year and prove that the jump to 184 was the right choice. I am very excited to see what this team will be able to do for the rest of the year. WE ARE

Man, I'm anxious to see Joseph take on a quality opponent again. Hopefully Chad Walsh goes to the Keystone Classic.

I have a feeling the team record for falls is in serious danger this season. Four today and two on Friday. 2013 looks to be one of the top seasons with 90 pins. I'm looking for a bunch more in a week.

Just back. The comments here were fair.

Suriano is the real deal. Schram didn't come close to scoring, and Nick spent a lot of time stalking. Even though he was stalking, Nick could have shot more and earned quicker stall calls. All-in-all, a great match for the true freshman...and he did win the Ridge Riley Award!!

Jered was dominant. And that hair...

Jimmy faced a top-2 or 3 guy that he won't beat unless he gets that first takedown. McKenna is right there with Heil, which may put them and the Wyoming kid at slight separation from the rest of 141. Still, I want to see more. Jimmy moved well, and had plenty left at the end. The guys ranked 4-10 are the matches I'm waiting to see.

Zain!

Jason!

Comments earlier in this thread were right on. Subjeck was a specimen at 165 (he wrestled 174 last year) and just horsed Cenzo early. It was obvious (to me anyway) that Cenzo was more athletic, but the early strength moves were killers. It's a process, as Coach Cael says, so this bout is a positive, huge one imo. And he never quit, and got an important 2 at the end.

Bo!

Mouse wrestled a very smart match. His opponent didn't come close to scoring, and the early takedown by Matt stood up. I honestly believe Matt could have been more offensive with his very tall opponent, but is really playing it smart as he works his way towards being comfortable up a weight from last year. 2-0 against solid competition this weekend is a really good result.

NN wrestled the #10 guy in the country. Not sure how he held the leg the last 30 or 40 seconds, or whatever it was. Butler broke the hold several times, yet Nick got he leg/foot back. Another very good win. Showed me something too, as he was extended for a really long time, and I didn't see any ill-effects from last year's surgery.

Just a few comments...next up, the Keystone Classic next Sunday, 11/20.

The problem with expecting Nick to shoot more is Schram was constantly sliding backwards and if Nick does shoot more, than more times than not he is extended and giving Schram the advantage. Schram's whole game is back, back and back again. He is looking for one of two things. For Nick to advance straight forward with a high stance, or preferably shoot become extended and vulnerable to a short offense takedown.

I thought Nick wrestled a tougher than nails, strategically brilliant match.

I also thought Chapman could have dinged Schram with at least 1 maybe 2 more stalls.

Crop, great job. Thanks for the PBP. I read the first few matches while sitting at the Linc, watching the Eagles play.
