Just back. The comments here were fair.
Suriano is the real deal. Schram didn't come close to scoring, and Nick spent a lot of time stalking. Even though he was stalking, Nick could have shot more and earned quicker stall calls. All-in-all, a great match for the true freshman...and he did win the Ridge Riley Award!!
Jered was dominant. And that hair...
Jimmy faced a top-2 or 3 guy that he won't beat unless he gets that first takedown. McKenna is right there with Heil, which may put them and the Wyoming kid at slight separation from the rest of 141. Still, I want to see more. Jimmy moved well, and had plenty left at the end. The guys ranked 4-10 are the matches I'm waiting to see.
Zain!
Jason!
Comments earlier in this thread were right on. Subjeck was a specimen at 165 (he wrestled 174 last year) and just horsed Cenzo early. It was obvious (to me anyway) that Cenzo was more athletic, but the early strength moves were killers. It's a process, as Coach Cael says, so this bout is a positive, huge one imo. And he never quit, and got an important 2 at the end.
Bo!
Mouse wrestled a very smart match. His opponent didn't come close to scoring, and the early takedown by Matt stood up. I honestly believe Matt could have been more offensive with his very tall opponent, but is really playing it smart as he works his way towards being comfortable up a weight from last year. 2-0 against solid competition this weekend is a really good result.
NN wrestled the #10 guy in the country. Not sure how he held the leg the last 30 or 40 seconds, or whatever it was. Butler broke the hold several times, yet Nick got he leg/foot back. Another very good win. Showed me something too, as he was extended for a really long time, and I didn't see any ill-effects from last year's surgery.
Just a few comments...next up, the Keystone Classic next Sunday, 11/20.
