Palo Alto Cost of living = 471 overall (100 is USA Average)
Brookings SD Cost of Living = 82.1 overall
Basically 6X the move would be, mostly from housing prices, but also transportation and even groceries were considerable.
3 bedroom rental in Brookings is $1125 per month. In Palo Alto, it is $4757. But guessing Stanford would comp his living. Not including income taxes, with SD being 0.0% and California at 9.3% (9.3% above $58,635 plus $2581.60)
