Stanley Cup Playoffs: Flyers vs. Pens Round 1

Sorry, the truth hurt your feelings. Flyers all time head to head are so far ahead of the Pens it is ridiculous. For crying out loud, what is a rivalry if you can’t give digs??

I have posted in here that no doubt the Pens have made the most of their trips to the finals, hats off to them. The Flyers have not been so fortunate, they have run into some all time buzzsaws and took them to the brink. With a little luck, they could have had another cup somewhere in there,
But it is what it is.

My point is to consider this rivalry a one sided whitewash due to recent Pittsburgh success is misguided and uninformed. I don’t know your age , but to me the typical pen fan here works under the impression that nothing before 1990 “counts”. I consider your fan base undeserving of your success - they threatened to relocate because the team was in financial trouble. Flyers fans fill the seats regardless. Yes, the Pens get the better of it now, but I think once the calendar hits 2020, that will turn. The Flyers have decent young players and a very strong minor league. The aliens are built for now, the Flyers are building for a near future. It is what it is. Contrary to belief here, that doesn’t make me dillusional.

As usual, a flyers fan misquotes a Pens fan to look for a pity party.

Posting your disrespect for those that disrespect you is only natural. But those that disrespect you could care less.

Sorry that you have to look back past the lifespans of many here to look for a positive. But that's your choice. Have fun.

Simmonds has been hurt most of the year, despite 24 goals telling a different story. Truth is, he buttered his bread on PP and later in the season, they put Patrick in his spot in front of the net, so that is drying up for him too. He played a hard style for many years, and I think it is catching up to him. He is 29 and moves like he is 39. He has one year left on his deal, and my hope is that he moves on after it is up, Flyers core is built for regular season success, they just are not playoff competitors. Giroux is best suited as a number two line player. He does not react well to having to carry the load. Yes, he has moments, but his is a potential unfulfilled. Great season this year, but he is 30. Typical trend is for players to peak at 24-26. Flyers future is bright, every win in this series is gravy, and it puts the Pens that much further behind in head to head!!! Ha ha ha!!!

Pricing in a series loss with “every win in this series is gravy” haha. What a geek loser you are.

I wonder how many Flyers fans know from where their team got those orange and black colors?

On April 4, 1966, Bill Putnam – a member of the Philadelphia group that was selected by the NHL for one of the six new franchises – announced a name-the-team contest and orange, black and white as the team colors. Wanting what he referred to as "hot" colors, Putnam's choice was influenced by the orange and white of his alma mater – the University of Texas at Austin – and the orange and black of Philadelphia's previous NHL team, the Quakers. Also announced on April 4 was the hiring of a Chicago firm to design the team's arena.

And prior to being the Philadelphia Quakers, that same team (and it’s colors) were the Pirates...and they played on the other side of the state.

And here I thought the Flyers got their colors from the MLB Giants.

1979 was a great year. Super Bowl Champs and World Series Champs in same year. The creation of “City of Champions”!!! Awesome if you’re from Pittsburgh. Jealously if you’re from Philly. It’s always fun to start adding up World Titles 8286. Pittsburgh wins that game haha.

In your world. . .

I need and look for pity from no one.

There is more to my life and what makes me successful other than identifying with my local hockey team. I was simply stating facts. Anytime I try to be rational with a Piggsburgh fan it is met with nothing but vitriol and an unbiased condescension. Smh.

You prove my point in that Piggsburgh fans simply just ignore anything that might be detrimental to their narrative of being the greatest city ever. Who cares if you weren’t alive? Simply preposterous. But what else can you expect from a front running fan base whose team was almost moved out - that never happens in Philly. The Roaring 20s are coming my friend. I guess that “won’t count”. Sorry, tried to have reasonable debate, but that is impossible with Piggsburgh folks.

The Flyers won Game 5. I think I'll be a Flyers fan now.

I'm a winner!

All this and yet who’s the one tossing out names like “Piggsburgh”? Nothing condescending about that I guess.

Then why are you obsessed with any success that Pittsburgh has?

In your world, plenty to be obsessed about.....

Piggsburgh vs. Filthiadelphia or Pittsburgh vs. Philadelphia? You guys decide. Mature fans of your own team or punk-ass adolescent Joe-six-packs?

Go!

Missing Malkin makes these teams much more competitive. Missing him is a huge equalizer.

No F'in way!

He is allergic to the color ORANGE!!!

Murray's apparently allergic to the color orange as well. He's been awful today. It sure would be nice to have a legit backup goalie so the option to pull him even existed.

You can keep bashing Fleury if you want though--I'll throw up stats for the future HOFer
