Starocci and Bartlett have not been very impressive so far and where.........................

Starocci will be fine. Kerk is injured. His father said he may be ready by B1Gs.
Howard I assume is still recovering from his offseason surgery so I ha e have no idea if/when he’ll wrestle.
Bartlett has looked good, not sure what you mean here?
Doesn't count toward eligibility, but it definitely counts to all the wrestlers and staffs.

BB has nothing to lose and everything to gain by taking a shot at 49.

I know this seems like the solution to beefing up the 149 class for us, but I have to tell you, when he walked out for his match on Tuesday, I did not at first, know who was coming out and thought the match was a 133 pound match.

I’m not the best at gauging these things, but it seems that asking a true freshman, as Bartlett, to wrestle up a weight class (or 2) could be asking too much, despite his obvious skills.

I am grateful just to be able to watch our guys go, listen to Ironhead and struggle to reconcile the 25 second delay between BTN and the audio.

Given we had to pause, the team looks great and I hope the extra matches are here to stay. Watching Bear Claw, up 7-3 with riding time, shooting late in the third period, is wonderful.

Bartlett has wrestled mediocre competition and his first 2 bouts were close.

It’s all a process people. Learning to travel, continue to work on school assignments on planes and in buses. Making scratch weight and staying hydrated . You’re talking about freshmen on their 1st road trip. Relax. We should have our entire team before Big10s. Everything is going well. We need to stay healthy and get those who are not prepared to compete. Looking great now is not important. Improving every day and learning is important right now.
Don't make @Johnbrooks go from this

@SRATH I can help with the delay, if you listen to Ironhead by way of Lionvision on gopsusports use a web browser, not the app. The web browser page has a pause feature not available on the app. It sometimes changes when they go to commercials, which I do not know how that happens, but you can generally synch it up without too much problem.

Heck no. Sooner or later we will have a discussion on whether Mr. Brooks and Mr. Kerkvliet are who they say are. I believe one is Cenzo and the other Bo simply working hard to keep our heads from exploding due to self induced hyper anxiety.
Scooby Doo ending says they're really Tom and Terry behind those masks.

Could be. I would expect a little more stir and shake to their posts as opposed to the subtle "relax, lol" assists we occasionally get.

So, what is it? I “see” a post from Mr. Brooks telling us to be patient, but I “heard” through 3rd party sources that we should rise up in protest. :)

It's good to also have hobbies where you control the outcome. Mine happens to be climbing mountains on a bicycle. Not Verk, nor Beau, and not even AB can help get me to the top. It's all on me. It doesn't have to be strenuous. Build blue bird houses. Buy a steering wheel and start a career in F1 2020. Make the best chili east of the Mississippi. For me, having control over an outcome helps me chill the **** out, so that I'm not down on a true freshman 2 ****ing periods into his college career. I'm backing these guys a thousand percent but not living and dying on the outcome. Just a thought.

If your son hasn’t looked great yet, I think the 184 field has even more to worry about.

Who knows, he may even end the season ranked ahead of Deprez🤣 😉 🤣

Romero beat him 9-5 and everyone has been raving about Romero.

And Romero hasn’t been shut down recently for weeks like CS’s whole team.
I addressed this already in the post. Romero beat him by the same margin last year. It was basically the same match.

Mr. Brooks, the voice of reason. Even if it's not a huge pull, just doing it the first time and learning how to refuel and manage your fluids can be difficult, especially for a guy who seems like he didn't cut much weight in high school. I think I remember Brands mentioning this was something Spencer had to figure out during his freshman year too.

Is Chad Red not an AA caliber wrestler? He should be Tech Falling medicore competition if he is right?

He wrestled both Dentino and Valdiviez to closer decisions than Beau (6-4/8-3 to 8-4/13-6)
I haven't seen his matches this year, but were they actually close? His closest score wise is 8-4, but that might also be a style thing. I always think of Bartlett as more of a control wrestler, not a huge dynamic point scorer. If he doesn't have a dominant top game, he's not going to be racking up techs and falls. Doesn't mean he wasn't in complete control though.

In fairness, we don't need those matches to validate Red as an AA.

Carter will get there, just a freshman, maybe the pressure of high expectations, maybe has been sick. the skills are there! he looked better yesterday then he did the week prior. Also the possibility that the staff is asking him to work on certain things. Remember the goal is March, to be awesome in March you have to work things out In Jan and Feb.

Bartlett has looked solid at 141. He is also shorter than the guys he has wrestled. Going to 149 now would bring even more ?? to the length question. We all saw Mark Hall.....who I think we would all agree is the more talented wrestler....lose a match where length and not skill was the problem. I want to see Bartlett wrestle as much as anyone but asking a true freshman to move up to 149 when he wrestled 138 as a Sr. in high school is not fair to him. It will work out....... Relax :)

Agree, Bartlett moving up will not help this team catch Iowa so why risk his confidence? Let him develop at his natural weight this season. Furthermore, I still question whether he can beat our current 149s at his size.

What were the weights in the FS matches?

The NLWC stopped/slowed their listings of weights as the events went on through the Fall.
10/20/2020: listed at 182. Starocci over Skatzka by pin at 2:59
11/24/2020: no weight listed, Starocci over Marsteller, 6-2.
12/22/2020: no weight listed, Starocci over Daniel Bullard, 13-2 at 5:56
- On 1/3/2021, Bullard weighed in vs Gardner Webb at 174

Vincenzo Joseph had 4 losses his RS freshman year. Lost 18-12 to Keaton Subjeck of Stanford, giving up two 6 pt moves from headlocks early in the match. He went on to avenge that loss in the 2nd rd of the NCAA tournament 5-1. His other losses were to Isaac Jordan 6-4 in sv and twice to IMar during the season, 5-2 in the duel meet and 8-5 at BIG 10's. His qtr final NCAA tournament win was a 6-5 squeaker over Daniel Lewis of Mizzou and his semi win another squeaker 5-4 over Logan Massa of Mich.

CStar and BoBar will be just fine when they get to tournament time because the coaching process has proven results.

Huh, whoda thunk it. The father of a wrestler has better perspective of what the PSU wrestlers are going through right now than the AKB. Frankly I'm shocked but it certainly seems reasonable to me. Preach on Mr. Brooks, I for one thank you for your insight and voice.
