State Tourney Results For PSU Recruits in Action this weekend

I'll probably take a deeper look at PA brackets tomorrow (don't hold me to it!), but one result today really caught my eye:

SW AA 126: defending state champ Jon Gabriel (Bedford) lost 3-0 ... to returning 113 state champ Max Murin (Central Cambria).

Both returning 120-lb finalists are also at 126 this year: champ Cole Matthews (Reynolds) and runner-up Brian Courtney (Athens), who is absolutely standing on his head right now.

All 4 of these guys are legit D1 prospects, and Gabriel is already committed to Navy.

126 AA is shaping up to be the most ridiculous weight at states this year.

At this point, I believe I've updated each of the PSU verbals in state playoff action this weekend.

The only result that is not yet determined is how Nick Suriano will place. The NJ finals take place at 3 pm on Sunday. He'll take on Ty Agaisse, who he defeated 5-2 last year in the NJ State Finals at 120. (He also defeated him 9-2 earlier this year, at the North Jersey Non-Public tournament.)
If Nick wins he will go 159-0 in his NJ high school career. Where have we seen that record before????

Gavin Teasdale, Jefferson Morgan 113, SW AA Regional:

Semis: Keaton Furry, North Star, 14-6

El-Jefe, interested in your observations when you get time to look over the PIAA matchups.

First question, does the SW region domination continue? AAA and AA?

I am too pissed off at the PIAA to do this. Maybe I'll cool off ... Brackets just came out -- I'll start a separate thread for this -- and the "random brackets" are a total fustercluck.

Way too many unbalanced weights in both AA and AAA. And especially AAA has a number of finals matches in the quarters.

The dim bulbs in Harrisburg who approved the Pletcher-Sasso quarterfinal should be fired, post haste. At a time when promoting the sport should be paramount, this match could be a showcase final at Super 32 or Fargo ... and the brain trust in Harrisburg finds a way to keep it off TV.

C.T knows his stuff. This pic of Stephanie and mom from a few years back

Poway is about 10 miles north of San Diego. That's where I met my wife and she is even better looking! (no BS) No, I won't post any photos.

BTW, Poway has a really good wrestling program too. Coach Wayne Branstetter has been there for a long time and he still keeps cranking out top level teams. You guys might remember Todd Schavrein from Mizz a few years back. He's from Poway.
