I am not a person who studies how a linebacker works, follows assignments and such but had a point to discuss about Micah Parsons. When he came to Penn State in January it made total sense for him to be a linebacker, with that athletism and nose for the ball coupled with our thin depth chart.

However after summer when Bucholz and Torrence Brown were lost to career ending injuries and Shane Simmons to a training camp injury....one has to wonder would both parties have been better off had Micah stayed at DE? I don’t know enough to judge how Micah is progressing at linebacker but he doesn’t seem to be making much of an impact yet.

What do you think? Better off at linebacker or DE considering the cicumstances and his learning a new position vs what he was coming in. I will hang up and listen........

Regardless of whether he’s technically the starter or not, I think he’s one of the three best linebackers on the team as we sit here midway through 2018. I think even if Parsons came in and stuck as a DE, he’d still be the #3 guy in the rotation there.

I’ve asked myself kind of the same question. I think he will be a great linebacker or defensive end when it’s all said and done. I could see him having more success this year as a DE but I believe our linebacker need is still the largest hole for him to fill.

Strikes me as DE, but great natural athlete in any event. Defense coaching needs to get people in right situations
