Obviously tickets haven't been distributed to the participating schools, but out of curiosity I checked ticket prices on Stubhub as of minutes ago.

The lowest price for two tickets on Stubhub (before their exorbitant fees) as of a few minutes ago:

Orange Bowl $395 each
Rose Bowl $300 each
Cotton Bowl $170 each
Sugar Bowl $157 each
Outback Bowl $102 each
Fiesta Bowl $92 each
Peach Bowl $84 each
Gator Taxslayer Bowl $70 each
Citrus Bowl $45 each

Having been to only two bowl games buying my tickets through Stubhub then, I paid $60 each for the Taxslayer Bowl vs. Georgia, and $62 each for the Citrus Bowl the day before.

What is the highest and lowest price you have paid for a bowl game ticket?

Hmm. I know prices will fluctuate but it's interesting that the Outback tickets are currently more expensive than the NY6 Fiesta and Peach. After the match ups are announced I'm sure the numbers will change.

Agreed...plus, games in FL and SoCal versus ATL and Phoenix. FL draws the East Coast, SoCal has 13 million people. ATL can be cold. Phoenix? IDK, too long of a drive to Vegas?

Buy them outside the stadium for a third of the price.
The days of buying tickets outside the stadium with confidence that they will get you through the gates are coming to an end. It's way too easy to counterfeit tickets these days. I'm not talking about printing the normal "hard" tickets - I am talking about the "print at home" variety in which someone can print off and sell 20 copies of the same ticket and the first one to enter the stadium gets through the scanner. Everyone else who bought those same tickets is out of luck when they try to enter.

There is even a risk to buying the hard copy ticket outside the stadium. I had season tickets. There was nothing to prevent me from selling my tickets on line electronically (thus voiding my hard copy bar code) and then selling the hard copy ticket to someone outside the stadium.

There are plenty of almost fool-proof on line sites (stub hub, ticketmaster, etc.) to buy tickets that won't be counterfeit. I wouldn't gamble with buying outside a stadium for a high demand event.

Bowl game tickets are a joke, at least to the lesser bowls. Have gone to a lot of them in Florida (in Orlando) and you can always get them for whatever you want to pay. $1 for 2 tickets and all we could drink from a handle of jack was our best deal. It was Maryland against Purdue (before Maryland was in the big ten). Outback bowl for Penn state against Tennessee we got tickets 2 for 5 just because we wanted the commemorative ticket with the boomerang on it, then we gave away our print at home tickets. They can’t sell these bowls out, that’s why youll see some shit “all star” high school cheerleading half time show. They get in free and then their family’s buy full price tickets to see their kids perform in front of 60,000 people who aren’t actually watching.

Yet we can't have a larger playoff because it will destroy these valuable lower tier bowl games.

Highest - $85 face value from FSU alum, before
Lowest - free outside stadium.

I personally will never buy before game day, as I have always spent more.

"Valuable" is a relative term. They are valuable to the bowl organizers who make money regardless of ticket sales. They are valuable to the presidents of the participating school because it give them the opportunity to jam their peckers into the onion dip (yeah, that goes for the LouAnnabitch, too, especially the LouAnnabitch).

I’ll be going to whatever bowl PSU is in (will be my 14th bowl game), and will def buy tix on secondary market. I expect to pay no more than $50 for a Peach Bowl ticket & $20 for a Citrus Bowl ticket.

Actually many pro teams have already gone the route of electronic ticket only. NFL tickets clear through Ticketmaster. I have bought Ravens tickets off of both Ticketmaster and Stub Hub. The Ravens actually gave me a courtesy call to walk me through downloading the tickets and putting them in my Apple Wallet. Very professional.
