One thing this article fails to mention is the effect - or variation of the addition of instant replay review. You can't predict how many times or how long the reviews will be and this has certainly added to the increase in length of some games and the variability. Sticking to the 20 minute half time is OK I guess - but who bets Harbaugh takes as much time as he wants. I do see a point of emphasis this year is not letting coaches run down the field which he does regularly.
