Tenn won't hire Schiano

I don't know what anyone expects Schiano and Bradley to say beyond what they stated when it first broke.

Mike says Bradley told him about Greg. Tom either did or he didn't.

If he didn't..then Mike completely made that up and Tom should say so.

If he did tell Mike something he should clarify exactly what it was.

As of now Mike's allegation is just in some sort of limbo land...Tom and Greg aren't saying he lied but they're claiming they never saw anything.

I suspect that as part of negotiations to settle the MOU, Schiano was told to keep quiet. Basically, keep your mouth shut and you’ll get paid.

I get it. But I think we've learned that when it comes to the allegation that you turned a blind eye to child rape because you were worried about how it might impact football, you MUST push back. You cannot move on because that taint will never wash away. I don't see how Schiano can avoid addressing this.

Do you actually think Schiano saying, again, "I didn't see anything and Mike McQueary is a lying idiot" is going to matter?

Schiano never said Mike was a liar, only that he "never saw abuse". I'm more interested in what Bradley has to say as to why Mike thinks he told him that story. Bradley didn't directly address it in his statement before.

Why would any coach want to expose his family to these lunatics?
You shouldn't talk like that about the President of the University and his wife.

That's all well & good but doesn't answer the question.

Do you actually think any of what you mention would change anything?

Schiano can't say that Mike is a liar because he wasn't party to the conversation of which Mike testified.

So you want Bradley to speculate as to why he thinks McQueary is a liar? I imagine you'd probably like a check for $5mm, too.

Oh hell no. But if it's all a big lie, you wouldn't respond if you were him? I could go on to twitter and say absolutely anything, and you would say nothing? I bet not.

I'd keep my mouth shut. Nothing I would say or do could change the mentality of the masses, so less is more.

I hope Bradley grows the balls to really stick it to McQueary. Hopefully, there is no backlash. The media’s soft treatment of McQueary has got to stop. There are two possible scenarios, neither make Mike look good. The first possibility is that McQueary witnessed child sex assault, did nothing to stop it, and then voiced no objection to the offender getting a slap on the wrist even though Paterno followed up with him. The second, much more likely scenario, is that Mike simply saw Sandusky in the shower with a teen boy, then 10 years later made up a story about witnessing abuse in order to “help” an investigation so that he would not get in trouble for sending dick pics, bringing down several innocent men in the process.

I hope they suck forever. I'm no fan of Schiano, but playing the Jerry card here is utter BS!

Amen brother. It wasnt't a splash hire, so lets get him out with his association with the pedophile. It's bullshit. If it were a big name, big splash hire, pictures of the new hire tossing his johnson while watching sandusky wouldnt matter one liota.

Why not? If they were questioned about this incident/conversation and denied it to the GJ it would weigh heavily in their favor.

Ed: Perhaps I should say it would weigh heavily in their favor with me.

You care. The masses quite obviously don't. If you can't see this by now, I feel bad for you.

Worse is they supposedly wanted Gruden as CEO/HC and Tee Martin (current USC OC) to come in and do the heavy lifting with recruiting and other day to day activities beneath Gruden.

Even if Gruden had interest, I don't understand why they think he would be a fit college coach. I think I read somewhere that he is ESPN's highest paid employee. He would be a loon to return to coaching after 10 years for this job.

Plenty of reasons to not hire Schiano without having to resort to this. Tennessee thinks they're more desirable than they are, and they're wrong. Have fun with 'old, once successful coach who is on his last stop before retiring or young unknown assistant who will be in over his head.'

I hope tennessee is unable to get a big name now that Schiano is out of the running. Any candidate should look at what transpired today and realize that tennessee is not a healthy environment to work.

Schiano put this to bed a few years ago to the satisfaction of urban meyer, and it died then and there. What happened today is a negative reflection of the tennessee culture, not Greg Schiano.

He also put it to bed with the UT Aadministration

Agree. Few guys can do both well. I think given the time and investment, O'Brien would have been one of them. Mostly because he's hungry and has strong college football roots. Gruden has a Super Bowl ring - he's not going to hand write letters to 17-year olds begging them to go to Tennessee. Not when he can make nearly as much just by showing up to set on ESPN. If you want someone from the NFL, look to the assistant ranks.

I don't expect a universal change of opinion on anything about this case...but given the scores of interviews not just by the OAG but also Freeh, the FBI/DOJ, and DOE....the amount of information that's been made public about this case is paltry.

People have based their opinions on what little has been made available. If other information, such as GJ testimony, came to light I think reasonable people who actually read it could change their opinion if the evidence suggested it. That goes for all sides.

Not quite correct:

"I never saw any abuse, nor had reason to suspect any abuse during my time at Penn State," Schiano said in a statement on July 13, 2016.

By this statement, he is calling either Bradley or McQueary a liar.

Sure. But as continually evidenced over the past 6 years, the number of "reasonable people who actually read" is virtually zero.

I do not understand the obsession with Jon Gruden. The man hasn't coached in almost 10 years and to be honest, really wasn't amazing.

He won a superbowl, which was fantastic, but other than that, I just don't see it. His career win percentage puts him at the bottom quarter of NFL coaches. He is an equivalent to Jack Del Rio or John Fox. I just don't get it.

Agree and disagree.

Being the HC at a major program is so much more about marketing these days. 1) your name has to sell tickets, 2) your name has to draw recruits and 3) your name has to draw assistants. I honestly don't think CJF has a lot of time to coach. I think he reviews the OC and DC's game plans and asks pointed questions to make sure they've considered all options. He counts heavily on his assistant coaches to do most of the X and O work. I suspect that is the way of all major programs.

Holy shit. I just saw on espn.com that stephen asshole smith called what happened with Schiano a travesty. He does not agree with tennessee athletic supporters.

You are right, and obviously perception helps to get things off the ground.
But, look no further than Harbaugh to see how far a reputation and marketing gets you. Obviously that book isn't written yet, but it hasn't started off with a bang.

This is all very interesting...a backlash to the backlasch.

And, if you exonerate Schiano (and the rest) you've got to exonerate Paterno.
