Teske in the portal

I think you can draw a pretty straight line where 3 weeks after Kyle Snyder announces he is moving to the NLWC, that Kerkvliet enters the portal. The bigger question is, what if J'den announced he was going to the ORTC only a week after Snyder made his announcement? Would Kerkvliet still have entered the portal?
I think someone slipped him a chocolate mickey from Meyers Dairy. That place is gold. Now he his hooked.

Teasdale has zero career matches at 125.

Busiello outgrew the weight earlier still.

Teasdale was a 125lb recruit early on. Remember 21Guns talking about him and Spencer only being undersized 110 pounders?

That was the position he was recruited for, but he never reached it. I don't think he was expected to stay there forever, but longer than he did.

You don't expect him to ever get there for Iowa either, right?

Guns said a lot of things.

I want to preface this comment by saying I take no joy in seeing Teske losing his spot and leaving. I live about an hour from Fort Dodge and saw Brody many times over his high school career.

I never understood this recruitment by PSU. I don't know if Cael has connections back in Iowa that really pushed him to go after Teske hard. I don't know if it was an attempt to take one from Iowa after Iowa had gotten Lee. Brody was very good in high school, but I never saw him being more than a Nick Moore type talent in college. He is a grinder, works hard and will battle hard every match, but he is not dynamic. He doesn't have the skill or raw talent to be a high AA at the next level IMO. I have said this since their senior year, Alex Thomsen was the guy out of that class that people needed to keep an eye on in college. Of course now he is at Nebby, where great recruits go to finish R12.

Next time please tell Cael ahead of time.
To be fair, russelscout gave this opinion over on HR when Teske announced he was going to PSU so he's not saying it via 20/20 hindsight. In fact, I think I may have even debated him over it. Lol

My comment was in jest. I need to learn how to use the SaRcAsM font or the proper emoji. ;)

I think Teske might have been a "hi profile" (4X Iowa champ and all that) recruit, but not a high quality, contend for Nat'l Championships recruit. And once it was clear to him he was going to need to fight every year to win or keep a starting job he decided to move on. He will have an easier time at his next stop winning and keeping a job.

Ummmm, sure, I guess that's part of it. There's always tidbits that folks don't know. Good luck Brody.

I might be mistaken (I wasn't posting yet when he committed) but most had relatively tempered expectations for Brody right? I don't recall anyone saying they expected him to be a 3 time champ and contend for Hodge trophies.

Most people were much more excited about Teasdale and RBY in the same class.

IIRC most saw Teske as someone who could enable those two guys to stagger shirts, and slot in at either weight if RBY moved up (whcih might never happen).

Don't think Roar is withholding anything here, just pointing out that in every decision, some factors are and should be private.
I forgot the little  at the end. Not sure why the need to elude to that at all. Roar has earned the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah, remember the thread from back then about a summer cab ride with 12 state championships on board? oh well

Looked back at the older Teske threads. I would call the overall tone optimistic. It did seem some were more interested in how HR would respond to PSU getting him. For those focused on more important things, there was lots of welcoming posts, and hopes he could develop into a quality 125. Very reasonable threads.

The last guy on this board I would want a "whatever" from is Roar. So, I'll take it that there are other factors and wish Brody good luck and great wrestling (esp against Hawks and not against Lions), same as when he committed.

I’m pretty sure he knew “winning and keeping the job” at PSU wasn’t going to be easy going in.
