Teske in the portal

I think this is as good a match as he could find and still be close to the big time. I be wish him well, and hope we see him beat Iowa at least once after Lee and Desanto move on :)

Thanks for posting. That was an interesting interview. One part was hard to believe. He said he had a "full-ride scholarship at Penn State". Anyway, I wish him the best of luck back home.
Yeah, that's highly unlikely. More likely he had some combination of athletic aid, needs-based aid, and other grants and loans so he wasn't paying anything out of pocket today (but might be paying back some with interest later). He'd hardly be the first colege student to either confuse those or over-claim in order to sound like a bigger deal.

Also wouldn't be the first journalist to mess that up in an article.

Brody came across as a mature young man in the article.
I was at the Arizona State match and scratched my head when he got majored, but none of us knew he was fighting knee issues. It explains a lot and reminds me to not comment on these guys as I don't know what truly is going on with them physically or mentally.

I wish him the best and hope his grandfather is mat side for the rest of his career.

State College = Happy Valley = Hollywood

Nobody takes less to be where he wants to be. I read that somewhere else, probably just once.

I never thought of PSU as a glitz and glamor type place. I hope he’s happy, though.

Article from when he committed to PSU (saw this quoted in a different recent article):

The time, the place, the money – everything was right. I’m ready to jump in and be a Nittany Lion.”

yeah the full ride had me scratching my head. I believe that was a direct quote from Brody.

The good news if true, it allows more money for the guys we have.

edit..just re read the article and it seems like they edited it from last night. It now says “scholarship” not “full scholarship.” El Jefe was probably right with the journalist error

Cael got to them...

Nice little interview with Teske on Flo linked below.

Highlights:
--nothing negative said about PSU
--there was no specific cause for him wanting to leave PSU
--he needed to get back to "who he is" and
"what he is about"
--he had some options but knew that he wanted to go to UNI
--Iowa is home, "this is where my heart's at, where I find a lot of happiness, and where my values align the best with who I want to be and become"
--the transition to UNI is going well with classes, etc
--all the help and support he got from PSU is "very appreciated"
--he can't compete in college this year, so he's focused on making the Junior World Team at 57kg in April
--not sure if he'll wrestle 125 or 133 next year for UNI

I think many over estimated Teske coming in. He split with Thomsen (Nebraska 125 who went to OT with Meridith and is 9-9 on the year) his Sr year of HS. Good wrestler but not an elite lightweight by any means.
