Teske in the portal

Ummmm, sure, I guess that's part of it. There's always tidbits that folks don't know. Good luck Brody.
Your post is SPOT ON. There is almost always reasons that most know nothing about. I’m sure that Brody agonized over the decision to leave, but ultimately did what he felt was best for him. I wish him well.

This life is crazy & things don’t always go as envisioned. I made the decision last week to transfer out of Penn State and I’m currently on the move. The support is appreciated! Stay tuned ... https://t.co/dilu2IQtU7

It was nice of him to include the standard Thank You to the University, Fans, Coaches and teammates for their support, helping me improve and providing friendships that I will cherish...……:)

You just never know with kids. Some come move away from home easily and some can't. Some thrive on competition and some don't. Some love school and some don't. My point is every kid that is ever recruited is a crap shoot to make it the first place they go. I am actually somewhat surprised how many are successful.

Whatever his reason, I am sure it is for the best for him.

ICCC is in Fort Dodge, his home town. It has been a CC wrestling powerhouse for many years. The likes of Colby Covington, Jon Jones, Cain Velasquez, TJ Williams and many others from the past. Todd Small (133) at Iowa State was at ICCC prior to ISU.

I could see him go there, finish the year there, chase a Juco NC and move on from there back to DI possibly. If not, there are a ton of other options from DIII on up that are nationally good all around Iowa.

Central College hasn't been a real wrestling powerhouse by any means. Wartburg has owned the conference and DIII for 20+ years. Loras is ranked #1 and Coe has been really solid in the past in DIII also. Upper Iowa in DII and Grandview has won like 7 straight titles in NAIA. So, there are options.

I would assume he would still chase his DI dream. UNI, ISU, SDSU, Wisconsin or somewhere.

Could be from taking classes there as a high school senior...
So spooky! Teske was there all along!!

There are so many possible reasons for an 18-year old student athlete to leave a school after their first semester that have nothing to do with the sport itself and perhaps everything to do with possessing a still-gelling 18-year brain dealing with a new experience away from home. Maybe their assumptions about college life got hit with cold water, maybe they had a bad breakup with a girlfriend, maybe they couldn't handle it academically, maybe there's a situation back home that requires their proximity, maybe there's a financial situation back home that requires downsizing their college choice. Unless the student explicitly says why they made the choice, and perhaps not even then, it's futile to speculate.

EDIT to mention that I was incorrect above in implying that this was Teske's freshman year; as was pointed out below, this was Teske's academic sophomore year.

I think he finished his third semester, didn't he? If not, I'm really feeling old today.

How did you miss the most notable former ICCC wrestler Pat Downey?!?

Remember he tweeted he wanted Nolf ,then moved up a weight so he could lose to Cenzo instead. Was probably eating fasnachts smothered in PB,cheesecake and drinking chocolate milk when he tweeted
Say what we will (and did) about Berger -- he owned all of his talk. He busted his ass to maximize his talent and brought everything he possibly could have had.

PD3 Jr probably thinks he did.

I can't get mad at Berger anymore when our very own AB told Zahid he's going to pin him in March (even if it's not posted on social media) :D

Then he (a 1 time R12 165 pounder) threatened to knock out Bo (the 4x Finalist, 3x champ, Hodge winning 197 pounder)

Unlike Lewis, Bo is actually a big name the MMA world is very excited for. Hell, it honestly spoke volumes that Gordon Ryan accepted a grappling match with Bo, a newcomer. BJJ isn't as big of a sport but Gordon Ryan is about as big of a name as it gets in it and Bo was coming into his territory.

Bet you Richie Lewis will spend a good bit of his MMA career trying to "Dillon Danis" and call out fighters he is nowhere worthy of getting fights with to get publicity.
