Penn State Wrestling Fans!!!!!!!!!!
We are a couple weeks into the season now as we head into Thanksgiving break and the guys are progressing well. We had an opportunity to watch 13 different guys compete two weekends ago between the All-Star match and the dual against Drexel so that was good to see. This past weekend we were able to watch 22 of our guys compete in 3-5 matches at the Westpoint Invitational so that was another opportunity to find areas that we can continue to improve on as we head into our next couple duals.
We were able to start the season with a bang on November 16 as we were fortunate enough to host the All-Star classic again and have five of our guys challenge themselves against very tough opponents. It was great to see all the guys compete, but it was particularly fun to watch Shayne compete again after missing last season with an injury. Our guys wrestled hard but most importantly gathered a lot of information and they will be even better the next time they meet these opponents. All our guys will continue to progress and adjust as the season moves along but it was also good to see where they are right now.https://gopsusports.com/news/2024/11/16/nittany-lions-roar-at-nwca-all-star-exhibition
On Sunday November 16th we hosted Drexel, and it was a good opportunity for a couple of our young guys to get some experience. We had another great sell out crowd and won 9 of the 10 matches. Even though some of our guys were not super pumped about their performance 6 of our 10 scored bonus points and a couple others figured out how to win close matches. Even when you are not feeling your best or something happens in a match, being able to adjust and figure it out is a very important skill as well. https://gopsusports.com/news/2024/1...roll-to-41-3-win-over-drexel-in-season-opener
This past weekend we were at West Point and saw a lot of great stuff from our team. As we always preach, it is not necessarily about winning but how we are winning is more important down the road than just winning. When we say that we mean are you continuing to try to score even when you are up in points, or there is a chance you could make a mistake, or you are tired, etc. That is what is meant by how you are winning. Obviously, everybody wants to win but there is a higher standard, and we have a bunch of guys that have bigger goals then just squeaking out wins during the season so it was good that they were continuing to try to score points this past weekend regardless of the score. https://gopsusports.com/news/2024/11/24/nittany-lion-wrestlers-roar-at-black-knight-invitational

We now give the guys a couple days off for Thanksgiving then we come back and get ready to head to Lehigh next weekend. Lehigh always has a tough team, so it gives our guys something to look forward to as they head into next week. After Lehigh we are at home again for the last time of the semester against Wyoming on December 15th and then head to Nashville on December 22nd to finish the semester with 3 more duals. It has been a good start to the season as this team is fun to watch and we look forward to the next month as we finish out the semester with some very good duals coming up. This is a special team with some very talented guys so any chance you get to watch these guys take advantage of it because this season will come and go fast. Thank you for all the support, Happy Thanksgiving, and we will see you soon.
