The complete OSU Report...

That’s funny...the NCAA actually digging into Urban Meyer? We know that’s not going to happen. I actually heard a caller this morning state that Urban isn’t a shady coach anymore like he was at Florida. Even with all this crap going on proving Urban is a liar and a slime ball, OSU fans are still delusional and apparently so is the NCAA.

Didn’t say the NCAA. I said anyone. McMurphy for example. Or Donald.

Alll the report indicates is possible NCAA violations. Could be cash for recruits, could be providing them with free sex toys, could be buying a kid a Big Mac.

That report is a hell of a lot more complete than the Freeh report was. They talked to everyone involved. They have specific and documented examples complete with context.

Freeh had none of that.

Can you show me where the documented texts are from over a year ago?

They don't exist. But the report didn't claim they did, and noted that is was shady that Meyer wanted them deleted.

Those texts would have been potentially been the most damning of all evidence and they were erased. So I ask you, how is this a complete report?

I never said it was complete. I just said it was a hell of a lot more complete than the Freeh report.

Their report was written to justify a predetermined course of action, just like the Freeh report. Both reports are worthless pieces of sh*t.

I don't get it, you're upset that they didn't include copies of texts that don't exist because Meyer changed the settings on his phone and the texts were deleted, a point they made in the report?

This is true. But the approach was completely opposite. Freeh found nothing, but hyped it up to be full of bombshells. OSU found a lot, but downplayed all of it as no big deal.

No, my point was you can't consider it a complete report when there's missing evidence.

Very true. Freeh couldn't find anything because there was nothing to find. OSU just made sure the smoking gun was omitted.

The NCAA is essentially dead--they won't do a damn thing...especially not to a program like Ohio State.

I would typically agree but given the nature of the case, I wouldn't be surprised if they are discussing imposing something a bit more severe such as a 6 game suspension.

What can the NCAA do without Ohio State's cooperation? Unless there is something in the report that is an NCAA violation with which they can hit Meyer, they are powerless. The NCAA does not have subpoena power.

I guess this is a good place to leave this tweet from Zach regarding the investigative team.

Thought I'd drop a copy/paste in before this tweet gets deleted.

Zach Smith @CoachZachSmith

Can’t wait 2 disclose the 2.5 hr “investigative” interview I gave 2 the people OSU employed 2 find out if Cch Meyer / Gene Smith did anything wrong... Questions were bizarre & VERY clear they weren’t investigating ANYTHING they were supposed to be... Investigating media backlash.

“...they weren’t investigating anything they were supposed to be.” No sh!t, Zach. Otherwise Urban would have been fired.

Gotta love Zach Smith. Just can’t keep his mouth shut. He’s the gift that keeps on giving.

Ok, and maybe it's just semantics, but when they explain why the evidence is missing, that changes things for me. I'm not commenting on the completeness of the report in general but as to the point about the missing texts, the fact that they explained why the texts were missing makes at least that part complete.

Definitely see your point. I think based on the report itself and the fact he deleted texts, that alone is cause for termination.

Oh my goodness yes. That's just another amazing part of this whole thing, they actually released the report that shows they had ample cause to fire him and that his actions warranted being fired yet they did what they did.

Totally agree. Their is far more relevant factual evidence in this report than in the Freeh report. And it's obvious that in parts of it they really tried to stick to factual summaries without offering a lot of unsubstantiated opinion. But only in parts. Other parts they gave opinions such as Meyer not "intentionally lying" at media days.
Their report was written to justify a predetermined course of action, just like the Freeh report. Both reports are worthless pieces of sh*t.
While they seemed to soften it during the press conference, I'm not sure I agree. There is a lot of ammunition against Urban in that report, plenty enough to fire him. If they truly were providing a slanted report I'd question why that information is included. I was actually mostly unconcerned about Meyer's role in this story until the report was issued. After reading it, I'm shocked he kept his job. The media and public mob mostly agrees that the report was damning. OSU and the investigators easily could have manipulated the report in order to prevent that sort of reaction, and they didn't. The report doesn't support the light punishment actions that they handed out, so in some ways the backlash OSU is facing right now is self-inflicted.

If you're right I would think that would be fair but I think the NCAA is simply terrified of doing anything to anyone with a pulse

personally, if I were on the board, this is what I would think:
  • first, took care of a friend's troubled kid
  • He said/she said...both are idiots
  • Meyer lied to the press? C'mon man, gotta be smarter than that
  • Deleted Texts after learning the heat was on? Fired!
