I think WIN is focused on print publication, and the online component exists primarily to sell ads in its publications. Note how easy it is to find their ad rates on the WIN site but how hard it is to find relevant content--the third story down on the "College Division I" section is the 2015 Hodge ballot, just above OSU topping Penn State 21-8 in a dual that took place almost two years ago. Mike Finn doesn't break news, or even write about wrestling all that much. I think the most recent opinion piece (from any of the writers) is from 2014. It's 'Int'l' section has a few Olympic previews but no update on what actually happened in Rio. They're doing the bare minimum of work to remain visible or even appear "inside" the sport. WON is more like it.
Half-assed preseason rankings make a lot of sense in this context--they don't care likely because their print ad buyers aren't paying attention to things like relevancy and accuracy and reputation, just print runs. But WIN has some perceived legitimacy largely due to its continued sponsorship the Hodge Trophy. So they show up at the right moments--preseason rankings, NCAA championships, Hodge Trophy balloting, and do the bare minimum to remain relevant to their print ad buyers.
Correct me if Im wrong, but isnt Win the rankings that JammenX often sites? Im not looking for a link, so maybe it didnt happen.

Probably right. I kinda remember that thread. I would just think WIN would want to stop embarrassing themselves. Sorry, but there is such a thing as bad press ...
Nobody calls Xanax "X pills". Many would think you're talking about ecstasy, which could generate some really interesting rankings. Most often, xanax are referred to xans (zans) or bars.
