The Good, the Bad, the Ugly. Tonight on the Outdoor Channel

Goin
In one scene they show the Confederate Army retreating through town led by a Gen Sibley. Turns out there actually was a Gen Sibley in the Confederate Army. And he invented the Sibley tent, used by the Army for years.
I also find it so interesting to go down historical rabbit holes from bread crumbs (like this) in movies. The information highway makes it available right at our fingertips with just few key strokes. A-maze-thing!

(He even served in Egypt.)

Really cool…..director had them make a cemetery in a bowl shaped hillside to resemble a Roman circus. Then told the music/score writer to write music that would sound like all the souls of the dead screaming out while Tucou ran around. The final scene was meant to resemble a visual ballet with all the swirling shots mixed with closeups of the the characters.

Neato...when you dig (pun intended) into these type of details in a movie it's adds a whole new level of meaning to a film and what all else is being attempted to be conveyed.

(Now, many years later I wish I paid more attention in THEA 101.)

Here is a wiki on the film. Lots of cool info. Was filmed mostly in Spain. Blowing up the bridge had to be filmed twice…..the first time they blew up all three cameras!

Buster Keaton inspired...

Wish I stayed awake in Th 101!

In the scene that Blondie shoots the rope noose and Tucou rides off on the horse….. the horse was so spooked by the shooting it ran for a full mile with Eli Wallach on it with his hands tied! Amazing he stayed on the horse the whole time.

Saw the movie for the first time and remember thinking that was the first time a music score perfectly fit the action of the film and made it so much more memorable.
Before that there was the theme song for the magnificent seven that was great but no match for the score of the good the bad and the ugly
