If Nickal goes 197, his reign of pinning terror will likely continue over Iowa opponents. I’m calling my shot now.
$50 to FRL if Warnerov doesnt get pinnned by BoN
lets start there. After that we can argue about his steps up the ladder

I guess that I've just seen one too many "sure things" in this sport not living up to the hype to have grown a bit cynical with "the next big thing."
As but one example, when I was still posting on HR, there was one or two guys, after Lee's first couple of matches, already declaring that he'd never lose in his career.
Well, that didn't take too long to completely disintegrate.
When people say that he'll never lose, and then proceed to lose within a couple of days later, yeah, that's disintegrating.I have also seen plenty that didn't ever AA let alone be 4X champ. That said......I wouldn't say Lee's year "disintegrated" He didn't go undefeated but he pretty much dominated at NCAA's. He was the highest point scorer at NCAA's as a true freshman National Champ.....at a pretty loaded weight. Quite impressive I must say.

You're personalizing it with Lee too much. This isn't about Lee disintegrating, but, rather, the guys on HR's prediction disintegrating. That is funny....sort of. Using your definition of disintegrating means that Nolf disintegrated and Hall did as well. When Nolf pinned Imar their first meeting this board had numerous people proclaiming that he would be an undefeated 4X champ. That didn't happen but Nolf is an incredible talent. To use that word would be preposterous. Many ordained Mark Hall to be an undefeated 4X champ …..again.....not going to happen but to diminish his talent would also be absurd. Nolf, Nickal and Hall will not be 4X champs....but more gifted than most others. Joseph and Lee can still be 4X Champs.....and most people would say Lee is the more likely of the two ( I hope they both do )…..so maybe pump the brakes on the negative comments in this case.
I would sure hope so; he's a lot bigger than Lee. My understanding is that he had a tough time holding 133 last year, which means he's probably two weight classes bigger than Lee.I heard Renteria is beating Spencer in the room.![]()
Why would I post it here? Hmmm, perhaps because it's a wrestling forum, and the only one that I can post on?
You're seeing something that no one else is.Best part of the thread right here.
Seeing shyt that isn't there, especially where wrestling is concerned is a Hawkeye trait. You're seeing something that no one else is.

Can't get one by you, can I?There are plenty of wrestling forums out there for discussion but innocent old Ban can only post on one. Made me chuckle.
Reminds me of an old saying: “You run into an a**hole in the morning, you just ran into an a**hole. You run into a**holes all day, then you’re the a**hole.”
Also, if you guys think Leistikoe is bad (you’re right), you should check out the Cyclones beat reporter for the Des Moines Register. He is somehow worse.

Because Sqwawker fans invite it. If you lived in Iowa and had to deal with their abject idiocy and ignorance (nd I'm not just pointing at their wrestling base; a Sqwawker is a Sqwawker is a Sqwawker), you wouldn't ask that question. Why all the vitriol?
Sid Hartman from Minnesota may have been one of the only exceptions to that that I can think of. He had no qualms critiquing the Minnesota pro teams throughout his career.Opposing fans calling beat writers of other teams cheerleaders is a cliche as old as sportswriting itself. Meh.
Well said. Except I think Warner will do just fine against Beard. Why all the vitriol? My hat is off to the Hawks as they have turned things around pretty quickly. Pretty admirable when they have to compete with us and tOSU for recruits. Many on this board were predicting last October they may not stay in the top five while some said top ten lastly we year. This year they are the favorites for runner up with a lot of young talent.
They stuck a dagger in our back when they secured Spencer, something that will hurt for years to come. I for one am still pissed. On top of the kid from NJ debaccle, it stings even more.
Warner is definitely a top 5ish stud, but he won't be able to handle Nickal or Baerd. As for Cassi I do buy in to the hype - have you seen this kid wrestle? He has a great motor for a big man. He is aggressive and has been tearning through the freestyle competition like a meat shreader this year. True he is not top 25 pfp but he is top 3-5 in his weight class behind Gable and Seth. The kid is very good and pretty much a lock for AA even if he goes this year.
Truith be told they will give us a run for our money in 2019/2020 with Nolf, Nickal and Nevills all saying their farewells, a sad but inevitable period ahead.
Depending upon next year's recruiting class, I can even see Cael doing another mass redshirt after we win one more NC this year. If so the hawks are the likely favorites.

But, to be fair, I don't get the Ohio State vitriol among PSU fans, so maybe it's all a wash.![]()

The same people saying wait till Bo, Nolf were the same ones saying wait until Ruth, Taylor leave. The crown is on PSU and it will be until somebody raises their game, waiting for PSU to fall back won't cut it. The 'can't coach' rhetoric has died down quite a bit, the integrity card has faded some the farther the Long debacle drifts by. I admire his ability to get his team to wrestle free and fun. PSU isn't going anywhere, it will take a big move to make it happen.

Favorites or not, assuming everyone stays healthy, and the freshmen develop, Iowa will be a worthy adversary, both dual meet and tournament-wise. The dual will be in Iowa City, so home-mat advantage to Iowa. The Hawks are not going to be the favorites in 2019/20.
Teske
Teasdale (RBY RS)
Lee
Verk
Berge
Cenzo
Hall
Brooks
Beard
Seth or AC
That is more than a year out, but it is certainly a lineup that will likely be favored to continue the roll.

I agree with you about Cassioppi. He's a good HS wrestler, but he's not a Nico or Zain or Spencer or Yianni. He's not Chase Singletary either. If he has to start as a true freshman, he's not replacing Stoll's points at nationals unless Moses parts the brackets. What results of Cassioppi make you think he could match Stoll who may be the preseason #1 ranked wrestler. The only match of note was Steveson and he wasn't the least bit competitive. Kerkvliet wrestled a very close match against Gable despite being undersized and a year younger, so why couldn't Cassi at least keep it close if he is good enough to potentially make he NCAA finals as a true freshman? If you look at his results, he has a history of running up the pin count and winning tournaments against weak competition which doesn't mean anything at the next level, especially in the heavy weight division that has notoriously weak depth due to football.
I don't think we'll hear about Long from Iowa fans anymore after the courtship of PD3. Iowa is definitely making some big moves. Lots of quality recruits and transfers coming in to make the NC race interesting. It just makes the PD3 fiasco look that much more perplexing. (Wth were TnT thinking?)
Whoa Whoa Whoa...stop the clock. Ill buy what hes having and make it a double.

Serious question (and open to anyone with knowledge).....what drone are you flying. Recommendations, what to look for on a purchase, dos and donts, experiences, etc.Since we have little real news, I’ll go off the trail a bit. To me the Long thing was never truly about Cael’s “integrity” for most. Some people are always looking for a way to bring someone else down to their level. Others chime in to get on the bandwagon, and some just like to poke at a rival.
The PD3 thing does not change my opinion of the Brands. If anything I respect them more for it. They were not afraid of the backlash, but did what they thought was right anyway. Was it dumb? Not to me. It never blew up on them (depending on your perspective) and I don’t believe they would have let it get out of hand. Giving someone a chance while putting strict rules in place takes a strong person with confidence. It also takes a person of character (I believe they are) which reminds me of Cael and staff. Not many could pull it off. Again, all IMO.
What we have seen of PD3 in print is not good (obviously), but I don’t fault someone for giving him a chance to straighten up. I got some extra chances myself. "It ain't over till its over". According to what people say, he can seem like a different person at times. I'm sure we all know someone like that (or were that person). That either means he is an actor trying to use people, or he is genuinely trying, but hasn’t quite figured it out yet and falls back when things get tough (he doesn't seem to have much help....seems like the Brands tried to give it). I’m certainly not going to decide on his motives (or much) according to what I read on the web and definitely not going to judge the Brands by HIS actions and decisions.
By the way, for me it was Hockeygod’s pictures of Iceland, Chickenman giving some advice about where to go, and the many food discussions that sprang up that made that thread last summer fun, as I went to Iceland later in the summer and got some good ideas about what to see, eat and drink (and had a great time).
On yet another tangent, have to mention Iceland is a great place to fly a drone. There are almost no restrictions (other than you have to consider others first), and you can get great pics and video, and few places are crowded (if any people at all). If we were driving and I saw a cool waterfall coming off a mountain....I would stop and take my drone up to get a look at what was on top and just to get a different viewpoint. Lakes, canyon's, ocean, glaciers / lagoons, etc. A lot of fun. Compare that with Alaska (I'm going in Aug) where flying is very restricted, like the rest of the US of A and Canada (I will fly where I can though).

Yeah he sucks. You should just forget about him now. No reason to even mention him againThe only result that matters ..... he is a Hawk recruit
Is there a more linear progression from HS to College AA than signing with the Hawks.??????
