Obviously PC and staff didnt learn their lesson last year. I went off regarding their choice to post-post double Jordan Murphy last year where he was able to deftly pass out for 3's or passed out to a pass that led to an open 3. Well what they PC do tonight in the second half? Yup the same strategy. Murphy kicked out and then they got either a shot or easy drive, he also hit the opposite block a few times for lay ups/fouls since Reaves and other guards did not rotate fast enough down low this time. Murphy is a very good player but if you are scared of Watkins getting in foul trouble and dont think he can match him 1 v 1 then try a zone. Maybe bring the weak side guard down on the double rather than go with both Watkins and Stevens. Go Big with Harrar and Watkins both in, try something....
Offensively you go on an 8 minute FG drought or however long it was, you need to get stuff going to the basket, not run false motion weave for 10 seconds then settle for contested jumpers. Put Stevens and Watkins in a horns set above the elbows with Reaves/Dread in the corners and have Bolton get going towards the basket and force a defender in the corner to commit.
I never see PSU run BLOB to score more than 2 or 3 times a game, they need to try and get points on those when they go cold, plus make some FT. That was the difference, TO's the same, shooting % the same, rebounds the same, they were 22-30 vs 12-20 for PSU..
