This could have gotten me in trouble. Say nothing.

There is a difference between a person speaking in general terms about what he would prefer, and passing a law to criminalize it. There is also a difference between singling out 1 guy, and just saying in general what you think.
I think you're assuming that saying it to one guy has to be confontational or demeaning. There are tactful ways to say things, even if the other person doesn't want to hear it.

Yes, but is it only 60%? The more important point is that it doesn't need to be 100%. There will always be some who disagree. Some would say there should be no laws at all, for anything.
This might be a good thing ------- if there were no laws, then there would be no need for lawyers!!!

Let me pick a few spots where you can criticize peoples' clothing and we will see if you can make it non-demeaning enough to avoid getting your ass kicked.

Why do you keep bringing violence into this? Is that how you would respond to such a criticism?

I was pulling out of a parking lot yesterday when a young African American male walked by. His jeans were down below his ass in the back, exposing his underwear. Literally, his whole ass covered by underwear was exposed. Ridiculous and gross.

For a split second, I thought about rolling down my window and telling him to pull up his pants. Then I thought the better of it. I could see being labeled RACIST. and the situation making its way to social media. Just what I would need, of course. Perhaps more relevant, it wasn’t my business. I didn’t know the guy, and it’s not like he was in my living room.

Sometimes, many times, it’s best to resist the temptation and say nothing.

Just remember that the white man is the greatest threat to our country. Oh yeah, and if a minority has a view you disagree with, don't disagree or say a word because you're a racist...

People get stomped for less every day. It is a way of communicating what you would call righteous disagreement. You insult my clothing, I beat you up. Your SPEAKING ABOUT my visible underwear allows me to express my displeasure. And even if it doesn't allow me, I might do it anyway, if my underwear are showing.

OK, I get it. Someone SAYS something critical, and you think it's OK to respond with violence. Unbelievable. You spent so much time in this thread defending the "right" to expose your underwear in public and the "right" not to be criticized, but you don't even believe in the right to free speech.

Not ok. Just not out of the realm of possibility. And not beyond being funny. Oh, and learn something about the first amendment before you spout off about it. It's better to STFU and be thought a fool than blather on and remove all doubt.

If it's not OK, then what's your point? A person could get beaten up for saying something? So what? I guess I shouldn't wear any jewelry or nice sneakers, because people get beaten up for that, too. And which aspect of the first amendment did I misrepresent? Please educate me.

Nonsense. Posting stupid shit gets you tagged as stupid.
I think that any person, no matter what his race/religion/lack of religion/binary/non-binary/color/lack of color/etc. that shows his/her/their/it's ass in public is a moron. And I don't give a flying fu** what anyone thinks about my rationale.

Hahaha. Nooooo, not for free I won't educate you. No real chance you would learn anyway.

I cannot violate your first amendment rights, NO MATTER WHAT I DO.

This isn't complicated- what you wear (or don't wear) is none of my business, and what I wear is none of yours.

I'm not going to comment on your choices, and don't want to hear from you about mine.

You missed the point. If the law allows people to react to criticism with violence, then the government is undermining the right to free speech.

It's not about the law allowing anything- it's about common sense. You can come up to me and tell me that I'm a big, ugly goon (and that is an accurate description)- that's your legal right.

If I then kick your ass, I'm clearly breaking the law- but that doesn't help you much at the time. Then you go get your gun and I get mine- and then where are we?

Best not to comment in the first place. No harm, no foul. I mean who really gives a shit what somebody else wears?

Who said the law would allow it?
It seemed like you were suggesting that the law SHOULD allow it. My point was that such laws would undermine freedom of speech. You've since clarified that you don't believe the law should permit such violence.

Were paint chips a popular snack at your childhood home?

Let me ask you something. Would you be OK with someone walking around in public with just a hat on and completely naked from the neck down?
No. That is against the law. Do you still eat paint chips? Not as much lead in them now.

I would ask what is the point to wearing your pants that way? Curious if there is a reason and how it came about to be a “fashion” statement?

You're dodging the question. I'm asking what you believe, not what the law says. Or to put it differently, do you believe walking around naked in public should be illegal?

I am just happy that his post didn't start 'After beating one of my slaves.."

WFT does anyone care if someone, other than your own kids, is wearing their pants the wrong way.
Bringing slavery into this discussion is stupid and irrelevant.

How far would you take that logic? If someone walks around in public completely naked, is that your business?

If I walked around naked wearing my “maga” hat I’m sure some would think differently about having something to say.

The point you seem to be making is that it’s none of my business. I’m not arguing this point. I’m only pointing out that it’s not inherently racist to prefer short hair, no tattoos, etc.

if your problem are things specific to their color or culture, you are racist and an a-hole.

Let's say that most people who wear sagging pants are a certain color, but very few people of that color wear sagging pants and many people of that color consider it stupid or offensive. Is it still racist?

I agree... for example, if I criticize persons of a different race for hair or whatever, but not persons of my own race for doing the same thing... then this would be racism.

same as the other, strawman.

This is really the last post we needed.

Wearing pants sagging below your ass looks ridiculous. I have no doubt about that. Also, wearing a tie is ridiculous. I have no doubt about that either.
Either way, nobody in their right mind would take my fashion advice.

Whoever invented the necktie should have been publicly hung by his own creation.
