Wisconsin, Boise State, Michigan, Arizona State, Missouri and Washington all lost. Texas won in embarrassing fashion against Kansas. It's also that time of year where the P5s that are undefeated will start getting some love even if they aren't likely a threat.

My top 25 would be
1. LSU 2. Ohio State 3. Alabama 4. Penn State 5. Oklahoma 6. Clemson (contenders)
7. Auburn 8. Georgia 9. Florida 10. Oregon 11. Notre Dame (realistically still alive)
12. Utah 13. Baylor 14. Minnesota 15. Wisconsin (kind of alive)
16. Texas 17. SMU 18. Cincinnati 19. Iowa 20. App State 21. Michigan 22. Arizona State (decent teams)
23. Boise State 24. Iowa State 25. USC (because we need teams)

My expectations
Alabama/LSU/Clemson/Ohio State/Oklahoma/Penn State/Notre Dame/Florida/Georgia/Auburn/Oregon/Utah/Wisconsin/Baylor/Texas

PSU hasn't earned a spot higher than 6 IMO. Its just a beauty pageant at this point anyway. Win and you are in. Ironically, if Michigan puts a curb stomping on ND....it will likely enhance the perception of our SOS. Its why I reluctantly root for Pitt(vomiting in my mouth the whole time).

No disagreement. Mine is more about the quality of the ACC and Big XII. I don't think Clemson or OU have done anything either.

I get it. I will give Clemson the benefit of the doubt. I'm old school....like the champ needs to be defeated in the ring! I'm sure Dabo knows they have no competition until the playoffs. He'll coach em to peak at that time.

how can you say Minnesota is "kind of alive"?

they completely control their own destiny

at least as much as Wisconsin would have if they'd beaten Illinois

Kind of alive just like Baylor is. They do control their own destiny but no one believes they'll go undefeated and, even if they do, there's no guarantee they get in.

Don’t we have a better resume than Ohio State, Clemson, and Bama? Not saying we are better but haven’t we earned it more than them?

oh so you're administering the Herbie eye test

gotcha

Are you suggesting that I'm wrong by saying Minnesota or Baylor are guaranteed a spot if they run the table? And, yes, the committee uses the eye-test so therefore we have to or else we're aren't following the same criteria.

Rankings are all opinion. There's no right or wrong which is the biggest problem that exists with FBS. Well, one of them anyways.

Clemson we do. Not Ohio State or Alabama. I mean, we're essentially trying to sell Iowa and Michigan as big wins when Cincinnati is very likely going to be ranked higher then them in a few hours.

Was just listening to ESPNU radio...they’re take is that a conference can’t be too good because then it will be hard for their best team to get into the CFP...so being in a poor conference where you’re the only team is a good thing like Clemson in the ACC and Ohio State in the Big 10....apparently we’re out of it already.

Yes they do. Watching them yesterday they have a few losses in their future.

I would disagree that our resume is as good or better than OSU, their closest margin of victory is 24....about the same with Alabama. Clemson had the blip with NC, so we can argue that one. Clemson will stay around till they lose....its the champion bias until they lose.
PSU had an excellent opportunity to make it clear to the entire nation that they were a top 5 team. 21-0, but they spit the bit IMO. I'm okay with 6. We're in it if we win 6 more.

Problem is that Penn State can't go to sleep for 2 quarters against the top 5 teams in the country, like they did with Pitt, Michigan, and even Buffalo. They'll get stomped by Ohio State if they don't play good football for 4 quarters.

Great question. I know nothing about Cincinnati but the fact that they may be ranked higher than certain teams is not the be all end all given the disparity in conferences.

Every team starts the season in control of their own destiny.

At the start of the season, would you consider Rutgres as something better than “kind of alive”?
sure....its unlikely to the extreme but we play the games for a reason right?

at the start of the season everyone is kind of alive....or actually very alive....even schools like UCF only miss out because of what has happened later in the season

Clemson hasn't done anything to deserve a ranking above us. They should be ranked below us and others. Send them and others a message that you can't schedule 12 cupcakes and expect a high ranking. Their schedule does not include a team currently ranked in the top 25! Pathetic.

Jeez....I am a pretty big PSU homer, but #4 seems a little lofty to me.

won't be surprised if Fla or ND move up this week and PSU doesn't move up.

No chance. We will be #6. Absolutely, positively, guaranteed.

1. Alabama
2. LSU
3. Ohio State (or #4)
4. Clemson (or #3)
5. Oklahoma
6. Penn State
7. Notre Dame
8. Florida
9. Georgia
10. Oregon or Auburn

Oklahoma won't go undefeated against the teams they have left, so we will be at least #5 when we play OSU if we take care of business.

They didn't schedule 12 cupcakes. Again, they could schedule 4 teams and scheduled South Carolina and A&M. They'll get credit for that. Just like we'll get credit for playing Va Tech even if they suck.

Kansas State, Iowa State, TCU, or Oklahoma State

I have a hard time seeing anybody in the Big XII beating OU. They finally have a serviceable defense to go along with a Lincoln Riley offense. The stars have to align perfectly for one of those teams to knock them off.

However, I do believe OU has to travel to Waco to play Baylor. Will be interesting to see what defensive gameplan Rhule comes up with.

Kansas State, Iowa State, TCU, or Oklahoma State

The only one on that list I give any shot to is Iowa State. Oklahoma State is awful. So is K-State. Maybe TCU. I pretty much believe the Big XII is worse than the ACC right now. At best on part with it. Hurts is going to destroy those defenses.
