When one looks at those two they are so similar that this is actually the same disease that just mutated to be much more virulent and deadly.
There is still a fairly significant genetic distance between these two viruses. I read a report where a virologist estimated that if both of these viruses derived from the same natural ancestor, they are probably about 30 - 40 years apart.
guys, I have asked before that you stop holding discussions about vaccine rates, when folks will be vaccinated in the US, frustration with the vaccination rate in the US, etc. in this thread. That is what the USA COVID-19 Vaccination Updates thread is for.
What about discussion of vaccine efficacy, real world data about population effects ?
