Tiger - give him a break

Would our gold digging girl friend blow 5k at Neiman Marcus after hearing of the arrest ? No because we don't have gold lined pockets. His recent babe..... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4553776/Kristin-Smith-goes-insane-Tiger-s-DUI-arrest.html
She's a "stylist." Yeah - Right. Man Tiger's life has really sunk to a new low. He refuses a breathalyzer test and then claims no alcohol was involved? The cops said they smelled alcohol on his breath. He was likely out cheating on Ms Smith from her reaction at Neiman Marcus upon hearing the news - "I knew it." Ever since his father passed away it seems as if he has lost all personal discipline. I feel sorry for his kids. Tiger needs to grow up and quit acting like a jerk. He is pissing away his legacy. Not the first athlete to not know how to handle success, and the fame and wealth which accompanies it.

Police report makes it seem like he was completely hammered on something whether it was meds or alcohol.

I have been rooting for him in spite of all the crap he put his family through previously.

The rise and fall I guess. Think he is done golfing.

Why someone like Tiger who is a sex and drug addict would bother with a 'traditional' relationship is beyond me. He could have girls at his pad non-stop and would never have to leave if he wanted.

Here is latest report... blew a 0.0. http://www.cbssports.com/golf/news/...-asleep-at-the-wheel-confused-unable-to-walk/

I know several people who have taken Ambien sleeping meds and have gone on to black out and do all sorts of crazy things they fail to remember clearly the next day. Look, Tiger is a lighting rod for criticism... but there is a strong likelihood that this is a bad reaction to medication. He will still need to suffer consequences of putting the public at risk but the law allows great latitude for risky but not reckless behavior.

According to who? The police report says he had three. Two at the scene and one later on. He blew a .000 every time.

Multiple media outlets were claiming this yesterday including the initial ESPN reports.

Regardless I am still a fan and glad he is ok and wish he could come back and have one more rise in the game.

Go check the link a couple of posts above this one. He blew 0.00.

So apparently .. Tiger was telling the truth. He blew a .000 in the breathalyzer.

Glad to see all the high and mighty investigators on BWI clearly knew what they were talking about

Gee, the article makes me feel a whole lot better about the entire situation.
Yes, it does say he blew a .000, and I will accept that as fact, as long as I can also accept as fact the rest of the article (for example: "Woods did not know where he was and asked how far from his house he was using "extremely slow, slurred, mumbled, confused" speech. He displayed confusion about where he had been and where he was going. Woods was unable to complete a test of walking a straight line as he "missed heel to toe each time and stepped off line.") which makes it clear the guy was in no condition to be walking, let alone driving, and was grossly reckless in getting behind the wheel.

I would hope that they did a drug screen, since he told them he was on medications. It'll be interesting to see the results of those, if we do. As an aside, though, didn't one of his paramours a while back state that Tiger liked to have sex on Ambien?

0.00.

I. AM. STILL. OUTRAGED.

Seriously, what was in his system to make him drive as he did and look wasted in the mugshot?

Ambien's an unusual name for a woman!

I'm not sure of the legal procedures in Florida but in PA the vast majority of police carry preliminary breath testing devices. The results are used as one step toward probable cause for arrest along with field sobriety tests, officer observations, etc. Those devices aren't calibrated to the nth degree like the official breath testing devices and the results aren't used in court. In PA a person can blow for the preliminary test, be arrested, and then refuse the official test with the calibrated device. That's still considered a refusal. So Tiger could have blown into a preliminary testing device at the scene then refused the test when sitting in front of a calibrated machine which is used for prosecution.

Of course I wasn't there. I'm only proposing a scenario which everyone can point to and say, "See? The media report was inaccurate!" They could argue either side and still claim they were right.

I can't get into it, but apparently there's a link out there saying that the cops recorded the entire episode.

Everyone has their struggles.

I care less about Tiger and his troubles. He's had a great run. But I don't wish ill on him.

Many years ago, I was at an Uno just outside Millwaukee on business. I ordered a pizza to go so I could work in my hotel whilst I ate a deep dish. I was waiting at the bar. A guy next to me, a little drunk, was hitting on every woman that walked within 15 feet (including the bartender). He his on a gal that didn't appreciate it so I asked him to dial it back a little. he did, then sat their very quietly. He started to cry. Turns out, his wife is terminal and dying and bitter. He goes to the bar at Uno to get away from her for a while. bartender verified it. Its not an excuse but no way could I put myself into his situation. Just so sad. Who knows what any of us would do. So I really try not to judge people for these things.

For a guy like Tiger, his career is probably over. Certainly his endorsements are kaput. A guy like him probably figured he'd be a commentator or course designer. Good luck with that. Given his surgeries and rehab, he's probably coming unglued. I saw Buzz Aldrin speak once, he said how tough it was for him when his career was over at age 35. All he ever thought about was bing an astronaut. When it was over, he turned to the bottle. Life can be hard.

You are right... first reports said he refused. The guy was headed away from his home at 2-3am which is a really interesting piece of data for me. Where was he headed? In m
Doubt it. According to Dave Chappelle, Tiger had been drafted by the Whites. It was the same draft where the Chinese surprised everyone and drafted the Wu-Tang Clan. That draft was loaded.

Hands down my favorite Chappelle skit

As you said, "Life can be hard", and I can sympathize with the plight of those who turn to drink, or drugs, to find comfort, provided they don't get behind the wheel of an automobile while under the influence.
Still, it has been my experience that most people don't do that. I have seen scores of people exhibit great courage while their world crumbles around them. They were generally men and women of modest means, who internalized their grief and went on with their lives as best they could. As Thoreau said "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation." When they die, a small group of mourners shows up to pay their respects and the world goes on. So it has always been.
That brings me to a related point. When someone you know passes, take a few minutes to go to the funeral home and pay your respects. I know many of us lead busy lives, and it's a whole lot easier to just send a sympathy card, but your presence will mean so much to the family that was left behind.

Reports are, now, that he blew a 0.000 for booze so it looks like meds. he was asleep at the wheel, alongside the road, with his right turn signal on. At first, he didn't know where he was but was "cooperative". So it doesn't seem it was as bad as first thought, as long as his prescriptions are kosher.

If I told him once, I told him a thousand times , get a chip for your cart. You will need it sometime.

bad reaction or expected reaction ? Combining narcs and or ambien or muscle relaxers and driving is not good. Popo should have done a blood and urine screen .

Gambit: He should not have been driving if he was under the influence,of either alcohol or pain medication. That certainly merits blame and, likely, criminal sanctions.

But if it turns out he in fact blew a 0.00 for alcohol (which appears to be the case), and that he is taking medication to address back pain that is likely considerable, then I would be a bit less inclined to.throw stones. Back pain is no fun.

1. You should have gotten the guy in Milwaukee a hooker. It would have been the honorable thing to do.

2. Actually, you are lucky the guy got quiet and started to cry. You could have had your nose busted for getting into his business.

3. Tiger will bounce back although probably not on the golf course. He was rumored to be involved in golf course design, although the one he had plans for in North Carolina fizzled out. I am pretty sure he is a smart guy, or at least shrewd, and will figure out something.

4. I won't condone Tiger driving if he knew he was not going to be in good shape, and thank Goodness no one got hurt. I don't condone anyone driving if they are not 100% ready to drive. But for the Love of God, you guys act like he committed mass murder. Or more appropriately, you guys are enjoying giving someone a final push off their pedestal....which not long ago, you helped put them on.

1) Yes, agreed...but didn't want anyone going through my phone records and finding escort services.
2) The chances you take for being chivalrous. Really, though, I was hoping to get laid. (~;
3) Tiger isn't going to have to worry about where is next meal comes from
4) Tiger has enough money he can afford a Lyft. But I think most people thought he was driving home after a bender at the local pony ranch. Turns out, looks like a bad cocktail of prescription meds. If it was a guy with a clean record, it wouldn't be a big deal, but this is why credibility is such an important issue. And its not just cheating on his first wife but several odd instances since then (does anyone really believe the cameraman knocked his teeth out by accident?).

Regardless, I feel as bad for him as I do anyone with over $500m in the bank.

I agree that back pain is no fun, and yet I think the throwing of stones is totally warranted. Tiger is no dummy. He knows the effects of his meds. He can afford a driver, or can certainly get in a cab. I have a 70 year old client that faces serious pain every day of his life, and is on heavy pain medication. He gave up driving because he knows he is a risk to himself and others when he gets behind the wheel. He came to my office for a Will recently and took the bus. I offered to ride him home and he refused saying my time was valuable and he would be just fine. That man has my respect. Tiger, not so much.
