Tiger with DUI

Oh no, at least as far as I know it's #1.

@EPCfan made reference to a PA State Senator with three. He's the dude that needs in jail.

Ah ok, Yeah definitely. I was lucky enough not to even lose my license but the laws in PA are way tighter now. I mean I tell myself that I just made a horrible mistake and and I know I won't do it again but if you are driving drunk enough for three DUI's jail time has to be mandatory.

Just me, but if I hadn't ingested any alcohol and was pulled over at 3am, the FIRST thing I would do is volunteer for the breathalyzer.

As it went down, he declined. Go figure.

Tiger says he was not drunk. It was a mix of pain meds and he didn't realize they would react in such a bad way
I don't know if Florida gives any leeway for a situation like that but the PA law doesn't grant exceptions for prescriptions meds or any combination thereof. People can't just throw down pain killers, drive recklessly, then say, "Gee, I didn't know". It's their responsibility to be sure it's safe since all that stuff has warning labels out the wazoo.

DUI should equal jail time for anybody
Yeah, I was wondering how anyone arrested for DUI could be released on his own recognizance roughly three hours after being taken into custody. Maybe because it was an AM arrest?

Arrested at 3am...booked at 7am....released at 11am...car was towed.

3am arrest. 7 am booking, released around 11

It's not always easy to Uber. I'm not saying it applies to this case but if you are a highly recognizable public figure, using Uber completely destroys any expectation of privacy. Many things that I have done in the 3AM hour would best be kept private (at least for me).
What's your handle on the street, Zig......... Enrico Salvatore "Ratso" Rizzo

What tipped off the police was that he was driving a golf cart with his clubs on the back of the cart!:D

Will be interesting to hear what the alcoholic percentage was.....
He behaved like a woman whose been married over 20 years. Refused to blow. I don't think they took a blood test. Wonder if high powered attorneys will work it down to a lesser charge.

Thanks for the info, ram and katch. So perhaps not such an unusual timeline after all.

ESPN reported this morning that he blew a 0.00 on the breathalyzer but was found asleep behind the wheel, was "sluggish," and failed a field sobriety test. So perhaps his statement that he had drunk nothing is correct. He was reported to be taking four (4) different types of medication for his back pain. Having had a couple of bouts with back pain over the years, I can attest to how painful it can be when your back is acting up.

On an interesting note, his car was supposed to have flat tires and damaged rims, and minor front and rear end damage. Wonder if there was a hit and run, possibly of the parking lot variety, or a curb rash incident prior to pulling over. Mercedes 2015 S65, MSRP about 220k, so I'd guess it was clean before going out that night.

3:30 AM? Just decided to take a drive after taking all of these pain killers and prescription sleep aids to help me sleep due to back pain? Hello? Think McFly...

I actually think that is the case/explanation.

I think Tiger combined his prescribed pain-meds with Ambien (or some other sleep-inducer) and got up in the middle of a drug-induced "deep-sleep" with an REM desire to "pursue something".

I'll defer to Mt. Nittany as to where he was "headed", but I suspect he was headed to Elin's.

Don't rule out Perkin's! ;)
